I am LivingWithGreenSkies. I always try to think of names that tells a story and thus the username. I have another account with the penname My-Rebel-Within. I’m an avid television and movie watcher. Do not ask me to name my favorite series. If I tried to list all my favorite series and movies, it will probably take me days. It’s far easier to name the ones I hate. Also, I read just as much as I watch. I have extensive training in theatre. My aspiration is to be a critic. Here is my email: myrebelwithin@gmail.com. Contact me if anyone needs anything. I will always respond. Plagiarism is so wrong and always needs to be stopped, but people need to stop being self-righteous about it. Before you condemn everyone with a scarlet P, read the definition of plagiarism (Definition: Plagiarize - to copy another person's idea or written work and claim it as original) Almost everyone, who writes “Read by the Characters” stories, usually says something along the lines in his/her disclaimer like . . . Everything in bold, underlined, or italic is not my work it is [insert author] . . . So claim it as original they do not. “Read by the Characters” stories are not Plagiarism end of story. I do not write fan fiction myself although I do write quite a bit. I have an account on FictionPress.com. My username is My-Rebel-Within. If you want to see my writing style, view my original works at that site. I read fan fiction because it sometimes gives me more than my shows do. If you really want to know what I like, you can skim down to my favorites list. It is big, and it is specific. My likes follow a pattern. I love reveals, bromances/friendships, and ships. I am addicted to reveals and the reactions it gets. I love reading and watching characters reactions to the information they are given, such as Lois Lane finding out Clark Kent is Superman (Big Reveal) or Ron being jealous of Krum because he likes Hermione (Little Reveal). They tend to be my favorite moments in literature, television, and film. Many of the stories written in fan fiction have reveals that is one of the main reason I read fan fiction in general (Note: This addiction does not have a pack or a rehab for it). "Read by the Characters" or "Watched by the Characters" fan fictions are some of my favorite ways to get my fix. There are hundreds of these types of stories, yet there are many that are never completed. I have another community under My-Rebel-Within (Look in my favorite authors). It is a Merlin called Breaking the Fourth Wall with Remote in Hand. Description: Do you love "Read by the Characters" fan fictions? Now read "Watched by the Characters." This community is the spot for Merlin characters watching the series. Read as the most beloved and hated characters of Merlin watch episodes of their lives unfold before them, and how learning the secrets of their dear Camelot change their view for better or worse? If you love reveals, this is the community for you. If you are addicted to reveals, come get your fix through here. Another way to get my fix of reveals is a great crossover story. I read any and all kinds, but I love NCIS/Dark Angel crossovers. There are just not enough Dark Angel/NCIS crossover stories out there, and there are not many that are finished. The stories have to be Max/Logan, so there are even less. I could not bear to read any NCIS/Dark Angel crossovers that are Max/Alec, Tony/Ziva or where Max and Logan are with other people. It will be season 2 of Dark Angel all over again. I just have thing about wanting Max & Logan to have a Happy Ending with all the Hell they went through on the show; they deserve to have a Happy Ending, Finally. One of the reasons I love shows like Psych, White Collar, Sherlock (BBC), and Suits are bromances. I do not know why, but I love epic bromances. The downside to fan fiction is that many bromances get turned into romances. If a bromance is written as slash, I cannot read them. I don’t do bromance turned romance; it is nothing against slash because I happen to like slash stories as long as it is canon. Also, I love watching and reading about truly great friendships. When fan fiction stories show how strong the Golden Trio (Harry/Ron/Hermione), are I am happy. I love stories of outside point of views on an epic bromance/friendship. I am a big shipper and tend to ship canon, but I respect and can see the appeal in non-canon ships, except Hermione/Harry and Jack/Gwen. I guess you can say I am a closet romantic. Sometimes my favorite shows, movies, books, or plays don’t always give me as much couple interaction I want, so I look towards fan fiction for help. Generally, I use my reviews to advocate against hatred and bashing because I believe it is rather silly to hate any fictional person, but I do hate one character. I cannot stand Gwen Cooper from Torchwood. If you dislike Gwen or Jack/Gwen, I do not need to explain. In the beginning, I was trying to tolerate her. I could not, and I began to hate Gwen. Although she got better at the end of series 2, she still rubs me the wrong way. I hated her acting so superior to everyone. When she first started, she would act like the boss, yet she should have been treated like the probationary agent she was. She never got punished for her disobedience of the rules. She loved her boyfriend (later husband) so much, but sleeps with Owen. Plus, She is 'in love' with her boss. I hate cheaters. She is basically a Mary Sue. Look up the definition she is. I just really hate hypocrisy. It a big pet peeve and Gwen is the definition of hypocrisy. I will admit that Gwen got better, but the actress Eve Myles turned into a right b*tch to the fans who loved Ianto, in the end. She was calling her character the heart of the show and that is Jack. I love Gwen Bashing. We need more well-written Gwen-Bashing stories because there are just not enough to be found. I love stories where she gets her comeuppance; also, I love stories where someone exposes her hypocrisy or where Jack turns her down. A good place to find tons of Gwen-Bashing is The Anti-Gwen Alliance page at livejournal (www.antigwenallies.livejournal.com). I will read Gwen friendly stories if it has good amount of Jack/Ianto, but I will never read Jack/Gwen because it sickens me to the core. I love the character Ianto from his coffee and suit to his Welsh accent. He was bloody brilliant. *Long Live Ianto Jones* I have a Torchwood community called The Dead Never Stay Dead. Description: It is a known rule in Science Fiction that no one stays dead for long, yet Ianto, Owen, and Toshiko get caught in the crosshairs never to return. This community is a place for fix-it stories. All stories that fix Dead Man Walking, Exit Wounds, & Children of Earth! Save our beloved characters! Gwen Bashing is always welcomed and so is Heavy Jack/Ianto paring, but do not forget the beautiful Toshiko and the sarcastic Owen. From nanogenes to time travel any fix-it is welcomed! No Gwack! My Philosophy on Harry Potter fan fiction: Some (not all) Harry Potter Fans are very crazy with the hate if you know what I mean. They don't see the whole picture like Dumbledore says to Snape "You see what you expect to see." The Character-Haters will see no good in the characters they bash. All of Rowling’s characters have flaws because it is what makes them human, but these flaws should not overshadow most of the characters. All this bashing does my head in. For example, there is a lot of Ron bashing out there, and I hate it because I hate unwarranted character bashing. I will say that a few characters like Molly, Dumbledore, Sirius, Snape, the Twins, Draco, and etcetera deserve some criticism, but they should not be bashed. I know Ron has many flaws (like all Harry Potter’s characters do), but he becomes such a great hero. It bothers me because I do not like injustice real or fictional. There is only one character that will get no redemption. He alone should be bashed because he is Voldemort, and he is pure evil. Some (not all) Harry Potter Fans may hate the Epilogue, but you are not the author. You may love the series with a passion, but you did not give birth to the idea and watch it mature. Don't hate people who did love it or hate the author because it is her work, not yours. Some (not all) of the hardcore non-canon Shipper will only see the proof for their shipped relationships. They will never see that the canon works in Harry Potter, and they will always hate some or all canon relationships. I respect and can see the appeal in non-canon ships, except Hermione/Harry. I find the Hermione/Harry ship (Please Hermione/Harry shippers don't hate me) disgusting because it is incest. Harry said himself "she is like a sister to me." Show the same respect I do. Don't get angry with people who disagree with your ship. Some (not all) Harry Potter Fans may hate one or all of the movies. If you watch the movies without the books in mind, I think they are good movies. Don’t ruin the movies for yourself because the director did not put everything you wanted in. I think the movies depicted both Luna Lovegood (She is unbelievably honest and kind; I swear, she can see through anyone’s soul, and there is such wisdom in what she says.) and Neville Longbottom (He went through the biggest evolution from meek clumsy school boy to freedom fighter. He is so brave and loyal) beautiful. Enjoy it as a movie not a “Book to Movie” movie. Don't hate people who did love it. “Don't hate. Hate is an emotion that takes too much energy to produce with no real purpose.” -- My-Rebel-Within. One of my favorite types of stories to read is a good "Read by the Characters” (Mostly Harry Potter), but they must be canon and have good grammar. If you adore these types of stories, you must read the two following stories. They have some of the most accurate characterization that I have read. Writer Sage’s “Reading with the Weasleys.” During the trip to Diagon Alley in the summer before second year, Hermione finds a certain set of books. She decided to show Harry and the Weasleys, and they began to read the books at The Burrow. (Book 1 through Book 7) Series is a work in process, but Book 1 and Book 2 are complete. Point Given’s “For a Better Future.” A mysterious red-headed man travels back to the summer before Harry's 5th year to change the future and save countless lives. (Book 5 through Book 7) Series is a work in process, but Book 5 is complete. I do tend to rant quite frequently it would seem. PEACE&LOVE |
