I'm a teenager who wants to do something. I want to make an impact. For the good. Many of my favorite authors have inspired me to write, and maybe this is the way to go. I can inspire other people with writing. I've read most of my favorites from the time I was little, over and over, regardless of level, because they never cease to inspire me. The characters lead me to do good things, encourage me on my way. Maybe that impact that they have on me scares me a little. But I believe that if I can do that to just one person - just one - then all of my writing will be worth something. And if it encourages one more person to do something - to enjoy life more, to make life more enjoyable for others - then all of my writing will be worth everything.

In writing, you have two choices. You can show everyone exactly who you are and what you want. Or you can hide behind your stories and hope that the world sees you as someone who you are not. I think that the former is something to strive for. Show your true colors to the world. Inspire someone. Encourage someone. Help someone.

We're all stuck, somehow. Some of us have millions of tiny threads grounding us to the earth, not letting us be who we want to be, who we should be. Some of us have several thick ropes. But reading helps you snip at the strings, saw at the rope, free yourself from the everyday, humdrum life in which we live. And when you write - that's when you're completely free.
