![]() Author has written 5 stories for Twilight. It's all in the name. Feisty red-headed Ninja with a temper that's been known to snap a time or two. As for the every day, I'm a legal secretary and a cake baker. I've got three kids, a husband, a dog, a cat and one frisky, gets into everything ferret. I love Netflix, really good food, a fabulous bottle of red wine and rainy days. I have a problem keeping my reading breaks to a minimum during my workday and nobody polices my computer usage! Ever since I downloaded the Fan Fiction app on my phone, my story reading addiction has hit a new level. I've been reading fan fiction for quite some time. There's nothing better than stumbling on a piece that stands on it's own, and could even be considered a better job than what the original author did. I started out just wanting to Twilight to last a little longer than Stephanie Meyer intended. Then I fell in love with alternate universes, non-canon pairing, and now I'm all about Team Jasper and Dramione, I've even found a story or two that has me rooting for Tomione, which I didn't think possible. In regards to my own personal writing in here, I find that I tend to lean towards every day life and relationships. I write what I know. Having finished a story, I have a little more insight than I used to have. We'll call this list "Things I've Learned": You can't please everybody as a writer. You will lose your mind if you try. People can get really angry when you don't write the story how they wanted you to. They say not nice things involving four-letter words. Not cool, people. In contrast to the above, there are some really lovely readers that will give you constructive feedback and encouragement. That can be really helpful if you're struggling on whether to keep going. Keep doing your thing, reviewers. Characters have a life of their own. As a writer, I may sit down with the intent to write a story one way, but when I finish the chapter, I find that I typed them down a completely different path and it works and it feels better. I follow what feels right, not my preset outline. There is something to be said for pressing on through the dry weeks and making it to the end. It's a very, wow, I can't believe I actually did it moment when you hit Complete. Enough of a high that I just might do this thing again. |
