Hey there, everyone! :D My name is Shayla, and I've been lurking the site since December 2012. It's only now that I've decided to go ahead and sign up, though. After all, I've been lurking for long enough, haven't I? LOL. But in all seriousness, though, I do enjoy reading fan fiction every now and then, but I don't have enough time to work on any of my own since I'm really busy these days. However, I do hope to contribute to the MK archive someday! Some of my favorite stories are from the well-known authors on this site, as pretentious as that may sound. These writers are actually the ones who give me the inspiration to want to start writing fan fic, and since they are so skilled, I feel it is only right for me to list them here. They aren't in order, so I hope no one assumes I favor one writer over the other! As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "Every artist was first an amateur." Some people might think that his famous quote only refers to art (like drawings, paintings, craftsmanship, etc.), but I consider literature to be a very unique and delicate form of art as well. Poe's Daughter is one of my favorite writers, because of how skilled she is with characterization and plot organization. Her work tends to be a bit on the gloomy side, and it makes her come across as a little intimidating, but I overlook that because she has a raw talent that deserves to be respected. I'm glad to have read PD's work, and it humbles me to know someone is so skilled and not as mean as people probably think she is. I was honestly scared that she would insult me for my review, but I'm glad she didn't! Much respect and kudos to you, PD! Keep truckin'! :D Cold Recluse is another writer whose irreverent sense of humor I can genuinely appreciate, especially because she is one of the very few people here who isn't even remotely afraid to infuse her controversial satire into her stories. I've seen other writers try to adopt the dark, offensive satire into their crack-fics, but I honestly think CR's work is hell of a lot funnier. I dunno, but it's obvious that satire runs in her blood. xD She does seem a little intimidating, though, and she reminds me of Sonya Blade because of her tough personality, at least from what I have seen. It's a respectable quality, I think, and others might not agree with me, but I'm sure she's a nice, intelligent young lady once you get past her icy shell. She definitely lives up to her pen name, that's for sure! Haha. Do your thing, CR! :D Edenian-Princess kind of bored me with her story at first, but she's actually doing a great job with Obsession. Her OC, Ama, is so adorably endearing that I would totally hug her if she weren't fictional. I feel really bad for not being on here enough to where I can actually review people's stories... I still have to review EP's stories. I'll get to it, EP. I promise! D: Well, I have to go for now, folks! But I will definitely add to this list and include a bit of info about me as soon as I get some extra time! Happy writing, and I promise I'll try to post a fan fic here someday! :) xoxo, Shay |
