![]() Author has written 7 stories for Twilight, Outsiders, and Hobbit. I write mainly for the Outsiders fandom and The Hobbit fandom. If I have reviewed your Thorin fic: Do not take offense if I am critical of your portrayal of Thorin. I really love Thorin's character. The complexity of who he is, the fact that he's been through the mill, but yet has endured and keeps enduring for his people. He's just a beautiful character. In my opinion, I think most of the Hobbit fandom see the mask Thorin tries to put on (cold and emotionless) and do not dig further beneath the surface, or see the fact that Thorin miserably fails. The mask falls a lot of the time. Thorin's emotions slip. Most of his decisions are emotional based. Thorin is angry with the Elves, so he doesn't want to go to Rivendell. Though the logical thing would be to go there because how in the heck is he going to read the map, right? Thorin's charge at Azog during the end of the first film was not the smartest thing to do, but he did it because he was emotional. Anger and rage are emotions. And Thorin's got a lot of that inside him. Thorin isn't comfortable with his emotions, addressing them, and probably doesn't even understand them well. So he would have trouble saying aloud how much a person means to him. I feel writers in the fandom tend to change Thorin's character (when writing an OC love story), so he could fit with their OC. One of the biggest criticisms I make and will stand by is that writers often tend to miss the hallmark of Thorin's character: he doesn't forgive, doesn't forget, and will hold a grudge until his death bed. Literally. I'm not trying to come off as a jerk if I criticize a writer's portrayal of Thorin. I am just trying to keep it canon. Why would anyone want to change Thorin's character? He's so awesome as he is. -Pearl Primrose I love The Beatles, John Lennon, roller coasters, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, The Hobbit films, Santa Cruz, professional wrestling, astrology, writing, and the Outsiders. If you are an Outsiders fanfiction writer or just fan, I recommend joining the 731 North St. Louis Board. It's very helpful and informational :) Stories In Progress: Heroes Summary: Rue's stuck in Middle-earth, meets Sir Swajesty Thorin Oakenshield through an epic bar fight, and learns Dwarves live as long as sea turtles, all the while on the run from some Malfoy wannabe during a quest to slay the Hungarian Horntail's ugly love child.
