Pet peeves and rants (my OPINIONS)

how bad cartoons have gotten in past years I mean seriously I used to watch a channel called vortex cw back when it was called cw4kids even back when it was called kidswb but when I looked at the show listings for it I was shocked that most of the shows that I grew up with were gone and most of the shows they now had (in my opinion) were garbage

putting opening songs (and or ending songs) in fanfictions I don't see the point of having them, they are good with TV and anime but with fanfics they are pointless and dumb (opinion)

what I call nonsense fanfic, fanfics written so poorly that I can't even finish them. Examples are characters (that are not dbz or part of the crossover section) automatically get sayian, super sayian, or super sayian God ability just because then the person is adopted by gods or goddesses and automatically can destroy everyone with no training or anything and automatically gain a harem. Timeskips work with this easily and can actually make it good, and some people can make good godlike fanfics but just throwing things in is just cringe worthy and usually makes for terrible writing (in my opinion) what is worse is there are so many of these exact types of fanfics with different authors, I get this is where you can be creative but there is a limit and that's why I have not got a fully working story because things like that might happen to me. Alright rant over on this.

vampire, well I don't necessarily hate them, I hate that out side of fandoms like Rosario vampire and high school dxd, unless it is well written, I find hundreds of fanfics that have this exact same theme in a single fandom that does not even have vampires, I'm not talking about adding vampires in as an enemy or a race, I'm talking about neighbor next door/ classmate/best friend is secretly a vampire type of BS where there are NO vampires in that series nor in the series it crossing over with. One or two of these is fine but with as many as I have seen NO we don't need more. Some might be good but most have the exact same stupid plot with different characters and usually ends with vampire falling in love with the female human. THAT'S IT that's the entire plot of most of these fanfics. Sorry anyone who writes these but it's my opinion and my OPINION is it is overdone and cliche.

Overload of OC centered stories, personally I have a love-hate relationship with OCs. There are many stories on my favorites that include them in fact. However, what I hate even more than overpowered oc stories is too many oc stories in a small fandom. Recently I was in a fandom that had around 75-80 some fanfics, while I did read some and some were well written, there were too many oc stories. I was trying to find fanfics that mainly featured the main characters of the fandom not some self insert character. Having Ocs in the story would not be bad even giving them some screen time would not be bad but making so many that only really feature the oc and usually ruining the relationship of the character (does not necessarily mean romantically but also friendship wise) just gets to me. Worse yet of those 75-80 some stories nearly 50% maybe even more were oc centric. Now I'm not saying to not be creative and write your own stories, however I do wish that people would balance the stories better.

Stat sheet chapters, where to begin with this one, I guess I'll start with what they are...POINTLESS. I have never needed to use a stat sheet to read a fanfic in my life and some people need to make a whole chapters worth of them for multiple characters (with a chaper per character) when I see that there is a new chapter I hope to see something worthwhile with the story not something you could put in the authors notes at the top or bottom of the page. I'm not saying don't do it but let me give you an example of how useless and stupid it is, I read a fanfic where main character has E class speed, outspeeds C class speed next chapter, the problem with stat sheets is the only time it would be good to have would be in a video game not in a fanfic making them and making the readers read them is a waste of both their time.

Self-inserts, ok to be fair most fanfics are essentially self-inserts but thats not what im talking about, what I mean is whe almost an entire fandom (That time I was reincarnated as a slime being the one that made me start this rant) on any fanfiction site (fanfiction.net, wattpad, archive of our own, etc.) where the main character in the fandom is complete removed for a self-insert and im not talking about what was above where they changed the main characters personality and skills (sort of like naruto in most of the naruto fanfics) but when its an oc and it literally says self-insert once again there are too many of these and they usually arent good (I havent found one in any fandom that was good but maybe somewhere) I want to read usually about the main (usually) side characters' (sometimes) adventures/life rather than some oc self-insert who probably will not be anything more than a harem making god character who gets girls on flimsy reasons because the writer likes them. Reader self-inserts I dont get at all as the point of a self-insert is to make your character do what you want but people write these and make the readers self insertx do what write wants, you would be better of either writing an oc story (with a charcter with an actual name) or one with an actual charcter in my opinion of course. I dont mind characters being ooc or the occassional oc/self-insert story but when you get too much of ocs and self-inserts it becomes too much, of course all of this is just my opinion.
