Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows — a Thor story Skylar Hargreeves •BACKGROUND: Skylar Hargreeves is one of the forty three children born on the same day in 1989, to a mother without any previous signs of pregnancy. She was one of eight adopted as a baby by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, whose intention was training them to save the world. Ranked by their individual usefulness, Skylar was Hargreeves’ Number Eight with the ability of molecular acceleration, telekinesis, and animal communication. •PERSONALITY: Skylar is both a tough and good-hearted young woman. She tends to keep to herself and keeps much of her past a secret, but possesses a keen sense of intuition. Skylar tends to trust her gut when it comes to other people. After leaving the Academy, she suffered from agoraphobia and severe anxiety attacks. She eventually went to a therapist and she’s learned to control her anxieties. Skylar likes art and music. When she first meets other people, she’s very quiet. As time goes on, however, she gradually opens up. •APPEARANCE: Skylar has dark brown hair and brown eyes. She wears her hair in a ponytail with her bangs covering her forehead. Her ponytail reaches her upper back. She has red dangling tassel-like earrings and a septum piercing. •POWERS and ABILITIES: (Animal Communication): This ability allows Skylar to influence animals around her. She can make usually skittish animals (like birds and deer) feel easy around her and her family, and make normally docile animals attack her enemies. (Molecular Acceleration): Skylar can take the potential energy stored in an object and convert it to kinetic energy thus “charging” that item with explosive results. She prefers to charge smaller objects as the time required to charge them is greatly reduced and they are much easier for her to control and throw. The only real limitation to this ability is the time required to charge the object. The larger it is, the more time it takes to charge it. Most charging takes place through direct skin contact. The power of her explosions is dependent on the mass of the object she is charging, for example, a charged playing card explodes with the force of a grenade. Skylar can also use this ability to accelerate an object’s kinetic energy instead of converting its potential energy; for example, she can charge her staff with enough kinetic energy and power to level a house. This ability can also be used to inject into organic lives, it can be used to stimulate their physical potential and make them move or attack with additional momentum. Enhanced Agility: Skylar’s ability to tap into energy also grants her superhuman agility and dexterity which gives her an added edge she has used to her advantage by developing an acrobatic fighting style. Static Interference: Skylar can create static, because of the charged potential energy that’s always in her body, that shields her mind from detection and intrusion from even the most powerful telepaths. The shield has an added effect of destabilizing touch-based powers. (Telekinesis): Projection of psychokinetic energy enables her to levitate objects, propel or manipulate them however she wishes, lift herself and move through the air to simulate flight, stimulate individual molecules to create heat, generate concussive force as blasts or bursts, and create protective shields. Force Field: She can create a telekinetic field to either shield her and her teammates or use it to lift heavy objects at her enemies. Tactile Telekinesis: She has the power to utilize a personal force field of telekinetic energy. Telekinetic Aura: She has the ability to possess powerful telekinetic extensions of oneself. Matter Transmutation: She can manipulate and transmute matter on a sub-atomic level. Telekinetic Weapons: She can create psionic weapons and constructs out of psychic energy that damage a target either physically, mentally, or both in some point. Energy Manipulation: The ability to telekinetically manipulate various types of energy from the electromagnetic spectrum. (Master Marksman): She is profound in throwing small objects, such as knives and balls with great accuracy. (Master Combatant): Though not on the same level as some expert fighters, she is still a profound fighter often incorporating martial arts, acrobatics, and street fighting. She is well adept in bojutsu, the art of using a bo staff, Capoeira, boxing, and martial arts. (Staff Mastery): Skylar possesses tremendous skill in using a bo staff, often incorporating her molecular acceleration to add further damage. (Bilingual): Skylar is fluent in English and Spanish. Skylar possesses the normal human strength of a woman her age, height, and build who engages in intense, regular exercise. •WEAKNESSES: Her powers do have some connection to her emotions. When experiencing extreme anger, sadness, or genuine distress, she begins to lose control. In terms of her animal ability, the animals do react to her general emotional state. If she’s happy and relaxed, they’re more at ease; if she’s anxious or unnerved, they become restless and skittish; if she’s upset, they start attacking. Skylar tries her best to keep her emotions under control, but she still struggles from time to time. After leaving the Academy, Skylar suffered from agoraphobia and suffered from anxiety attacks. She did attend therapy to help her gain some normalcy in her life. •ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Skylar has a sibling-like relationship with Five, Ben, Diego, and Klaus. She views Vanya and Allison more as friends than sisters and she doesn’t have a general like or dislike for Luther. He’s one of her brothers, but they never really developed any kind of bond or anything. Ben’s death and Five’s disappearance hit Skylar hard, since she had such a close bond with them. When Five first vanished, she and Vanya would leave his favorite snacks and leave the lights on in the Academy should he ever come back. In the years since leaving the Academy, Skylar maintained infrequent contact with Diego, Allison, and Vanya. Since Klaus is in and out of rehab, she finds it difficult to keep in touch with him and since Luther stayed behind at the Academy, she doesn’t talk to him. Skylar’s agoraphobia is focused more on being in places where finding exits is difficult. Her birth mother has Turkish roots. Because Skylar maintains contact (though infrequent) with Allison, she does have a good relationship with Claire, Allison’s daughter. |
