For 1400 years, Merlin waited for Arthur's return. Magic has been all but extinguished, and Merlin doesn't know when or how Arthur will return, nor how they will unite Albion. Such things aren't really solved with swords anymore. When Arthur does return, Merlin realizes he's got a lot to catch up on before they can even think about uniting Albion. Pairings eventually.

When Merlin loses his memory things starts to be unraveled and secrets starts to be told, secrets that shouldn't be. But will Merlin and Arthur accept the secrets that is about to be pulled into the light, or will they deny them?

What it all boiled down to, was the knife on Merlin's throat, and a choice. The right to the throne and his life as a Crown Prince, or Merlin's life. For both of them the choice is obvious, though as it turns out, different.

In an act of fear, after learning that Merlin is a sorcerer, Arthur banishes him from Camelot. Years later, Gaius is on his deathbed and asks to see Merlin. Willing to do anything for the court physician who has served him since his birth, Arthur sets off to find his former manservant.
