The fandom with which I entered fanfiction was Wheel of Time, but from there I quickly moved to Harry Potter. I prefer 'independent!Harry' fics above all, usually. My favourite fic that I have read so far in HP would be a split between 'Oh God, Not Again!' by Sarah1281 and the Denarian series by Shezza88. I don't read much Harry Potter fanfiction nowadays, preferring stories from other fandoms. I have for some time now read Naruto, though I don't really follow the manga. Here, I again prefer an independent, realistic Naruto, and dislike the character of Sasuke as he is portrayed in canon (although a likeable Sasuke is often well done). I have no particular favourite pairing in Naruto, though I do like the character Anko (more for her fanon characterization, and not usually as a ship but more in general). I particularly enjoy Naruto fics by Silver Queen, Sarah1281 and Shezza88, among a few others. I've also become interested lately in the Dresden Files, both the books and the fanfiction. I probably read more DF fics than any other fandom's these days. Some other fandoms I enjoy are the Elder Scrolls, DC and Star Wars. I also enjoy the Wheel of Time and Lord of the Rings series, for their intricate plots and storylines. I do find some of the characters there rather stereotypical and two-dimensional, yet not so much as to lessen the enjoyment that comes with reading them. Any problems with either of the two series are minor, and can easily be disregarded given the otherwise stellar nature of the books. I have, however, found few fanfics in either universe worth reading or remembering. I can also be found on Dark Lord Potter under the name Moridin. |
