After all that had happened, Lowell knew that he and Syrenne would have a talk. A talk about what had happened, how they felt, and where they would go from there... the thing was, he didn't want to go anywhere but backwards, back to the past where they bickered and teased and pretended that it wasn't an outlet for the feelings they had for each other.

To get over a loss is never an easy task. To get over the loss of someone you are no longer supposed to care about is an even greater trial, one that plagues Syrenne and Lowell even into a life of happiness. With their memories and a bit of shared understanding, maybe they can manage it.

On a night of feeling down, plagued by loneliness and disapproval of her companions, Syrenne turns to the one friend she can always count on: alcohol, of course. But as it turns out, maybe there is someone else who can provide a listening ear when she wants to vent - maybe even offer a little comfort. Just don't expect her to remember that kindness come morning.

Syrenne runs out of money for booze. In exchange for more, she agrees to help Lowell find a date. And as Lowell has already built quite a reputation for himself, it proves more difficult than she had ever imagined. Syrenne/Lowell.
