![]() Author has written 5 stories for Harry Potter, Bleach, and Pokémon. DV's Fanfiction Friends UndyingSoul98 General idea bouncer Co-author, Partners Co-author,Intersection (former) Beta, Upon the Wingbeat of Butterflies (former) Stormyskies89 General beta Idea bouncer My Works, or works I am at least a partial author and their Status Partners: Alive, updates at most twice a month, usually once on the last Saturday of said month. Intersection: Dead, both US and I have lost interest in Bleach, and thus this fic is totally discontinued. Memento Mori: Dead, I was trying to rewrite, but Bleach's terrible ending made me lose interest in the series. Will never be taken up again, but will be left up as a testament to how my writing has improved over the years. The Not So Great Idea: Schrodinger's Dess, I'm a big Harry Potter fan, but it's been over two years since I've had a flash of inspiration for one of the drabble-like things that make up this fic. So, whenever inspiration strikes me really. Harry Potter and the Mystic Arcanum: Whenever I feel like it really. Partially written ideas which I may or may not ever get around to finishing and thus are fair game for others to use so long as they credit me with where they got the initial idea. If you do use one of these ideas, PM me when you publish it so I can check it out. Punch Clock Hero (Star Wars): Luke listens to Yoda and stays on Dagobah to train. In a crucible of blood a hero is forged, but the brightest dawn always follows blackest night. Point 05 (Star Wars): A different decision is made in an instant while over the Death Star and Luke manages to shoot down Vader, at the cost of the Rebel Alliance on the obliterated moon called Yavin 4. Even with Vader gone, what can a handful of fighter pilots and a smuggler do against the Empire? Loop of Infinity (Percy Jackson and the Olympians): An OC demigod of a fading pantheon writes his story, and only intersects canon every so often. Remnant (Mass Effect): Humanity is a empire older than even the reapers, and though stagnant humanity may be these days, they are less than pleased at these hotshot new races trying to tell them what to do when they just want to be left alone in their retirement from galactic politics. Inspired by The Culture's elder civilizations and Stellaris' fallen empires. Strange Bedfellows (Warhammer 40k): On the eve of the Horus Heresy, a young marine of the 16th legion finds himself captured by the natives of a planet he was assigned to scout, having to join forces with a dark eldar and an ork to survive as everything collapses around them. Dance of the Chrysanthemum (Fairy Tail): SI, likely disregarding most of the stuff after the Grand Magic Games arc because constant power escalation is what ruined Fairy Tail. Hearts of Iron (A Song of Ice and Fire) SI as Rhaegar's younger twin. Cold Fusion (My Hero Academia): The weights didn't do as much as they thought, especially where All Might was concerned, and Katsuki and Izuku are wheeled to the morgue instead of hospital after their final exam. Horizon Signal (My Hero Academia): Izuku was born with eyes the color of polished silver, and none but his mother remember the time when his hair was the color of straw. He just wished that was all it was, however. Claymore inspired quirk for Izuku. Harry Potter and the Overrated Time Travel Adventure (Harry Potter): In which Harry gets sent back in time after an incident with accidental magic. No, not as a sixteen year old after getting special training. Not to the same year as his parents. Enjoy your time at 1960s Hogwarts, Mr. Potter, you have only the slow path back. Exemplo Ducemus (Harry Potter): A chance encounter in 1899 has a young Albus Dumbledore, instead of returning to Godric's Hallow and meeting Gellert Grindelwald, enlist as a member of the British Army. More Than a Clone (Harry Potter): An SI in the HP 'verse doesn't sound so bad until one is the Lestrange heir. The shadow 'dear mother' Bellatrix casts is long, perhaps too long to every truly escape from, especially in a AU where canon isn't. Cult of Personality (Harry Potter): He was loved after the final battle, but if Harry must take the reins to make sure his reforms get passed, it's what he must do. A confounding charm here, an Imperio there, well...it's not really harming anyone is it? Just greasing the wheels of progress. But absolute power corrupts absolutely and Harry finds he rather likes the title of Supreme Leader. Arcana Obscura (Harry Potter): Harry, Ron and Hermione plan out a cliche fix-it story. It would have worked perfectly too, if Sirius Black, Severus Snape and an SI hadn't all separately gotten there before them, leaving the canon timeline a torched mess by the time the golden trio arrives back. And yet, like a rock thrown in a river, ripples in the future create ripples in the past. Fandom Thoughts (note: not a complete list, nor in any particular order) Pokemon - I write in it...technically, but I don't really read stories in the genre. Dungeons & Dragons - Makes for good crossover fodder. Kantai Collection - Most of the best stories for this are on the Space Battles and Sufficient Velocity forums, but still an interest of mine. Warhammer - I read it, but I think I've hit the Sturgeon's Law quotient for this site, so I don't really go looking anymore. Star Wars - I've written for it, I mostly read it, but not anymore. Too many sappy Kylo/Rey stories to sort through. A song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones - I like reading these, and one day I might try writing one. One day. When Winds of Winter comes out. Bleach - Oh Bleach, you used to be great. Then you not only jumped the shark, but circled around and kept doing it. Used to write for this, but can't stomach it anymore. Supernatural - The poster child for why we need a slash filter. Can't be bothered to flip past ten pages of it to find one good story. Ain't nobody got time for that. Star Trek - Never been a huge Trekkie anyway, really only catches my interest as crossover material. Buffy: The Vampire Slayer - Never watched the show, but enough crossovers and you get the idea. Quiet enough fandom that I think I've hit Sturgeon's Law however. Naruto - Used to love it. And the highest number of works on the site means the highest 10% of Sturgeon's Law. Still, I mostly on read as crossovers now, since they breathe some life into the old formulas. Fairy Tail - Yet another potentially great manga/anime ruined mainly by power escalation. Still don't mind crossovers with it. Sword Art Online - SAO, how I cannot contain my love of your world and concept but my hatred of your main characters involves things I don't think I'm allowed to say on a public profile. Great sandbox for original characters, however. Ruminations on the deathly hallows in the Harry Potter series Elder Wand: A wand made from elder with a thestral hair core. Alright, fairly standard. Nothing particularly amazing, not like some of the fics on here where Harry has like 2 woods and 3 cores, because reasons. As far as things go, this one is the most justified in Dumbledore's theory. It's entirely possible that the eldest brother was simply a gifted wand maker who made himself a wand of exceptional power. After all, we find out as early as book 1 that not all wands are created equal, and trend towards certain things. That Dumbledore took it from Grindelwald proves the wand does not in fact have the mystical property of never losing a duel, and Voldemort would have done well to remember #89 on the Evil Overlord List. "After I capture the hero's superweapon, I will not immediately disband my legions and relax my guard because I believe whoever holds the weapon is unstoppable. After all, the hero held the weapon and I took it from him." Voldemort's obsession with it hastened his demise greatly, if not in fact totally. He was under the impression Snape was the master. Snape who he generally believed was more on his side than Dumbledore's. If he had simply taken Snape and the Elder Wand somewhere else and used literally any other wand since Harry was using Draco's, he would have been fine, putting him in violation of EOL #72. "If all the heroes are standing together around a strange device and begin to taunt me, I will pull out a conventional weapon instead of using my unstoppable superweapon on them." Furthermore, Harry would never have known to sacrifice himself with Snape, so if Snape is gone... . Still, it simply seems to a very powerful wand, perhaps the most powerful, but there's in-universe proof it doesn't make the wielder unbeatable. And before someone says that maybe Grindelwald wasn't its master, since he only stole it, then Dumbledore wouldn't have gotten its loyalty off him, and we know it did bend to Dumbledore. So yes, proof. Since we see no other instance of someone turning a wand on its master, we can't say whether the reaction was unique to it or not. The only thing vaguely supernatural it shows was being able to repair Harry's original wand, which I see as yet another deus ex machina as opposed to proof of anything, with only one evidence point. Resurrection Stone: Words cannot describe how awful this is. Ghosts exist in-universe, and this artifact summons people back as specters basically. Except that James and Lily know what's going on, when, having just been summoned back should only know what they knew at point of death. With gives us three options. One is that there is fact an afterlife where they dead can watch the living and so they're up to date. Two is that there is an afterlife with Remus and Sirius have been catching them up. Three, and the option I firmly believe, is that it doesn't summon them back at all. It takes the user's magic and knowledge to conjure up illusions of the people, who tell the user what they want to hear. It's a self-reinforcing positive feedback loop, which is why people are driven to suicide from using it. I mean, think about it. Lily, James and Sirius died defending Harry. The last thing they would want is Harry going off to commit suicide at Voldemort's hand. It would mean they died for nothing after all. And if one says that ending the war was more important, then Lily died to defeat Voldemort, not save Harry, which means no dumb love protection, which we know exists. But as Harry marched into the forest, what did he want? He was nervous and wanted to be reassured that he was making the right choice. Aside...he wasn't. Suicide is almost never the answer, being a permanent solution to a likely temporary problem. And shame on you Rowling for making it the answer. Anyway, so Lily, James, Sirius and Remus all assured him that he was, even though all them during life wanted him to live a long and fulfilling life. And if it was one of the first two options, at least one of them would have mentioned how Dumbledore had talked them around about why it's necessary. And yet none of them do. Invisibility Cloak: This one is more like the Elder Wand. Basically a souped-up version of something that exists normally in universe. Since Moody's eye could see through it, it's clearly not perfect (what do you mean Rowling hadn't thought up the hallows yet? Put that fourth wall back), furthering the idea that it's a simply powerful artifact whose magic has lasted the ages instead of some godly thing. Treatise on Flames Let's talk about flames. On this site, the term "flame" refers to a review that is unduly negative with no mitigating factors. Now, to look at this more in depth, we must compare flames to constructive criticism. To put it simply, a constructive critique does indeed state the negative, but explains why that is so, and how the writer can avoid the pitfall in the future or even clean up the current product. A flame satisfies neither of those requirements in most cases. Even in the best cases, the flame will at most explain why, but ultimately fail to explain the critical question of how. This is what frustrates new authors' the most, in many cases. They feel that everybody is telling them that their idea and/or execution was poor, but no one is offering advice on improvement. A written version, if you will, of the infamous video game statement, "Git gud." This of course makes little sense. We all started somewhere, and few of us (if any) got where we are today totally on our own without feedback from others. We all have had people explain things to us, in real time or not (if you look up information, someone else put it there). But most of all, flames are a waste of time and energy on both parties. While there are people that find a sadistic glee in trolling, most flames are by normal, albeit frustrated, people. It wastes your time writing them, and it wastes the author's time reading them. If you ever feel like flaming, assuming you're not a troll (in which case, geh zurück unter eine brücke), stop for a moment. Click on the author. Check how long they've been a member of the site. See how many stories they have. Are they a new author? If they are, cut them a little slack. Give them some advice on how to improve. Start a longer conversation with them. If you're the type and have the necessary skills, take them under wing and mentor them. They'll improve much faster, you'll feel good about helping someone else succeed, and you may just notice that your own writing improves as you explain out-loud all the things you simply internalized before. Any two-buck Bill or Dan could tell you a piece of writing is poor and could use some work. It's the mark of someone who truly understands that can give both parts of the puzzle. And if you don't have that level of experience and tact? Don't comment at all. The exit tab button is right there in front of you. I support the petition for a Slash filter From the perspective of, well, me, I do not find same-gender relationships my cup of tea. And I mean that either way. Gay or lesbian. I know men are supposed to find lesbian sex hot...or...something, but I don't get the appeal. Whatever. *shrugs* Either way, I don't want to have to guess at what is slash and what is not. Most author's are pretty good about marking it in advance, but a filter would be nice. If you agree, place this on your profile and encourage others to do so as well. If we can get enough people behind, it may be implemented. You know we need such a filter. IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
