Profile... I'm a 17-year-old male who doesn't have any fics up at the moment because he's waiting for Half-Blood Prince to come out so he can get in on the 7th-Year Fic Spree much quicker.
I tend to avoid reading the following types of fics:
1. Fics written without paragraphing, in all caps or in alternate caps.
2. Slash fics, with the exception of well-written non-fluff SB/RL fics or very-well-written non-fluff fics which don't start out slashy and that I am captivated by when it becomes slash.
3. Fics with an average chapter length of under 1000 words.
4. HP/OC fics, and especially HP/MarySue fics.
5. "High school" and crossover fics.
6. Harry-has-siblings fics that are not AUs in which James and Lily never died or were killed at a later date.
7. Fics with intergenerational pairings (i.e.: HG/SS) unless the fic involves time travel.
8. Dark!Harry fics
I like to read the following types of fics:
1. Paragraphed fics with proper capitalization and punctuation. Minor lapses are acceptable, but it should at least be readable.
2. Post-GoF 5th Year, Post-OotP 6th Year, and (when HBP comes out) Post-HBP 7th Year fics and their sequels.
3. AU fics (depending on the nature of the AU).
4. Alternate-POV fics (i.e.: the "Draco Malfoy's POV" series)
5. Time-travel fics
6. "Marauders discover the Harry Potter Series" fics
7. Sirius-returns (Behind the Veil) or James/Lily return fics
8. Well-written SuperPower!Harry fics
Preferred ships:
1. HP/GW, but I will read HP/HG and HP/LL fics. Harry/Katie Bell is an interesting pairing I don't see often.
2. RW/HG, but I don't care who Ron wuvs in fanfic (unless it's bad-written slash, as I said before). But many HP/GW fics are also RW/HG.
3. I enjoy the concept of DM/HG, so I'll read those fics too. I love the way the authors manage to get the two together.
4. James/Lily... uh, considering this ship is required for Harry's existence, I think I approve of it.
