As the name says, this is my reviewing account. It's here so I can review stories anonymously without the stigma of actually being "Anonymous"

What's that you say? I'm a coward? Well I'm not, I had to create this account because virtually every time I left a negative review the reviewee would swoop in and give all my fics a bad review out of some childish need for revenge. And I'm certainly not going to be one of those twits who leaves wishy-washy reviews for bad fics (seriously, go to some of the worst fics you can think of and check the reviews. I doubt you'll find many truly negative reviews other then retarded ones.) I have no problem giving constructive criticism, but some authors\fics are truly beyond help.

Hmmm, I'm curious to see if anybody can figure out who I am. (I'm fairly prolific)

Emily's Fanfic Pet Peeves:

1.Writers who answer reviews at the bottom/top of a chapter, who do you think you're trying to kid? You're not being polite, you're padding the wordcount! I'm sick of reading fics where the "answers" are longer then the actual body of the fic!

2. Fics under 10k words, Ok I don't hate them but I also don't read them. Too short to bother.

3. Fics with 30 or more chapters, please condense your writing. Just make longer chapters! I like to save and store fics and keep them as a personal library of sorts. Actually this is ok now, I found a little program that just downloads the entire fic.

4. Incomplete fics, like #2 I don't really HATE them I just don't read them. I've lost count of the stories I've gotten into only to have the author disappear *cough* Garlo *cough*

4b. Morons who mark continuations as Complete, if the story isn't over it's not bloody "complete"!

Added 3/21/10 4c. EPIC morons who are unable to finish their fic and think that means it should be marked as "Complete" Does the word "Antonym" mean anything to you?

5. Ransomed fics. I HATE THIS! ARE YOU SO INSECURE THAT YOU NEED VALIDATION FOR EVERY CHAPTER!? If you like to write, then write!!

6. Fake sequels. So many authors confuse sequel with continuation. A sequel is another story in the same universe,meaning it's SEPARATE ex Spiderman 2=Sequel LOTR:The Two Towers=Continuation. Simply put, if the preceding story had no resolution it's not a bloody sequel and you're guilty of #4b.

7. Naruto fanfic writers who make Haku male. Haku is not a guy, sure she claims she's a man. But if you just did some research you'd find out she's a she and the reasons as to why Haku says otherwise. EDIT: Sigh, ok I don't like it but I've come to terms with the fact that Haku is indeed a guy.

8. Naruto fanfic writers who give Hinata some confidence, d00d her overwhelming shyness is what makes her so cute!. If you don't like Hinata as is, then use a different girl!

9. Implied sex. Either they did it and you describe it or they didn't! Don't tease your readers with that " 'I'm gonna rock your world' *POOF!* Scene change!" bullcrap

10. Yaoi, I have no problems with gay men but Yaoi fics are bloody ridiculous. Unlike Yuri fics where the characters are usually friends or friendly rivals, 90 percent of Yaoi fics involve two guys who loathe each other and often want to literally kill each other (ex: Sasuke & Naruto) The vast majority are also horribly written and contrived.

11. Overrated fics. If you mark your fic as "M" I expect either sex, extreme violence, or just plain wrongness. Mere swearing doesn't warrant an M rating. If it's marked "T" I expect stuff on the level I'd hear in a highschool. Otherwise you're misrepresenting your fic to pad the reader count.

12. Confusing the honorific kun/chan with no honorific. Kun/chan means (much) LESS familiarity then using no honorific, not MORE. Ex Naruto calling Sakura "Sakura-chan" means they're friends, while Naruto calling Sakura "Sakura" means he has a death wish. Either use honorifics right or don't use'em at all.

12b. Using "Teme" as an insult. Teme does not mean stupid/jerk/idiot/whatever! It's a rude way of saying "you".

13. (thank you "Kyuubi's Naruto and Sakura") Authors who rip you a new one when you leave an unflattering review. If your ego is that fragile, maybe you should find a new hobby; though I can't think of one that completely precludes the possibility of criticism. Staring vacantly off into space maybe?

14. the "Life goes on" ending. IE Near the end of the story the author kills the love interest off with cancer/car accident/aneurysm/etc, the hero/heroine grieves for a chapter or two, finds a reason to carry on and is a better person for it. *cue "Morning after" by Maureen McGovern* PHOOEY!

15. Adding Christianity to fics. I respect your religious rights but please stop. Virtually every fic I've seen this in gets ruined. In the best cases we repeatedly get smacked by unsubtle references to the characters "faith" and in the worst all the characters become sock puppets extolling the virtues of your chosen religion. Plus Christian authors often suffer from a serious case of Fictus Overratus (see #11). ex: A Life Rescued http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3655216/1/A_Life_Rescued is an awesome Bridge to Terabithia fic, but it's like the author is standing behind Jesse and Leslie with a bullwhip *crack!* "Bad Jesse! No impure thoughts!" *crack!* "Leslie you filthy heathen! If you want to be with Jesse you must convert to Catholicism!" I mean for the love of pete, in this fic, seeing girls naked made Jesse puke!

16. Harems. 99% of the time the girls of the harem magically fall for the protagonist because the author likes several characters/ships but is too lazy to write a romantic subplot for each girl, also the girls are oddly fine with sharing. Get real buddy, you're not writing a fanfic you're just putting your personal fantasy on paper.

17. Fics involving incestuous relationships rated T and below (ex: Ben and Gwen from Ben10). If you're going to be writing a pairing like that you might as well go all the way.

18. Surprised it took me this long to add this one: Radically changing an aspect of a character to make writing about a pairing more palatable. If you have to do something like that you shouldn't be writing about the pairing. It's also rather lazy. Ex: When pairing Vanellope and Ralph from Wreck-It-Ralph it's common for her game to get an update/patch because she looks like a little girl and that makes the writer uncomfortable. Another example is making it so that Elsa and Anna from Frozen are no longer sisters. In the case of the latter, their sisterhood is a major part of the movie so they're practically different characters when you change it.

19. Stories that are drastically AU. You see it as being creative. I see the opposite. You have to resort to completely changing everything because you aren't creative and can't fit your story into the universe.
