Author has written 10 stories for Grim and Evil, Fairly OddParents, Invader Zim, Sandra and Woo, and Gunnerkrigg Court. I suppose with several stories under my belt, I should at least put something on my profile page, ey? But I really don't know what to say about myself, so let's go with the standards shall we? Favorite Anime/Manga and comics: I've taken to reading webcomics like Modest Medusa, Sandra and Woo, and lately I'm enamored with Underburbs, although it is technically not a webcomic. Currently I'm following Gunnerkrigg Court, Ava's Demon, Paranatural, Unsounded, Blindsprings, and Dumbing of Age! Favorite Cartoons: Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Invader Zim, Fairly Odd Parents, Powerpuff Girls, Ben-10 (the original series), Samurai Jack, Danny Phantom, and most of the old Cartoon Network stuff. I find myself watching Green Lantern: the animated series. I am watching with great interest the relationship between Razer and the nav-com AI, Aya, as it unfolds. Most android characters usually are portrayed too machine-like, but somehow Aya has developed emotions for Razer, and while he has developed feeling for her also, he is confused because she is after all, just a machine who looks like his late wife. 5-24-13: I liked the ending of the series, but still feel cheated. It felt like the whole thing was some lover's spat (albeit with potentially dire, Universe threatening consequences!) and the two "lovers", Razer and Aya, never even got to kiss! In the graphic novel version, Kilowog is supposed to be responsible for Aya's destruction. Goals: I would like to write two seasons worth (about 24 or 30 episodes) of one-shots for Grim Adventures, but I may be biting off more than I can chew! Might be better if I did 24 or 30 chapters! Oh, and some Tak stories for Invader Zim. I was terribly disappointed when she only appeared in one episode, then the series was canceled. I hope to increase my repertoire, but it will have to wait until I finish my current stories, as I find writing three different stories at the same time tends to make them sound alike. Likes: I like sci-fi and supernatural stuff (what else!). I read yuri and yaoi stories with equal interest, so you know I'm not homophobic. I like to include a lot of "pop culture references" in my stories. Thoughts on writing fanfics: I use fanfiction to practice my writing skills for future venues, but it is fun! I'm beginning to see a pattern here. Fanfiction has a lot to do with shipping. Most of the really popular stories here have some kind of relationship in them, and most of the characters involved come from within their particular fandom, and not so much with OCs. OCs are usually not well received, as they take time to flesh out. The reason people write on fanfiction is because the existing characters already have their qualities and personalities, and the fans are familiar with them. Problems arise when too many OCs are brought out suddenly, and the story hits the wall, then the writers run out of ideas and give up. If you have a good story, then ideally it would be best to update on a regular basis. The sooner the better. One month is borderline too long (which is what I've been doing!), comfortable is two weeks, and if you're really on fire, one week or less. Just sayin'. Story Status: "Tears for the Reaper" : On-going "Jack in the Trunk" : discontinued. "Fix Me Please!" : On-going "Tak and the Martian Armada" : On-going Happenings: Just got back from FanimeCon in San Jose! It was great, and I had a blast! I attended some of the writing workshops for fanfiction writers, and learned a few things! Now I'd like to attend Emerald City Comicon 2015, but gotta save up for that one. It's too late for San Diego! Went to see Maleficent the other night, and thought it was a wonderful retelling of the fairy tale from Maleficent's perspective. Although it was panned by Rotten Tomatoes, I think it will be a surprise hit in the fashion of Frozen, who stayed in the top ten for four months, despite having a so-so opening. Word of mouth should help it greatly! I'm not dead, but my computer is. I've lost all my writings and am unable to retrieve them. Also apparently my email which came with my original computer, did not belong to my domain, and as a result when my new computer started to fail, I could not save any of my stories. I'm afraid I will have to delete my account to simplify the process. Sorry for any worries. My regards to Aishling. Since you've changed your account name, I could not reach you to explain. It's been fun! |
