![]() Author has written 17 stories for Office, Sue Thomas: FB Eye, Twin Peaks, Law and Order: SVU, Mad Men, Sherlock, and Fringe. General Info: I have my BEd in Secondary English Language Arts/Art instruction, and a BA in English Literature/Philosophy, with an accidental third concentration in Art History (long story -- suffice it to say the History of Art & Design folks need to get their act together before they tell people they can minor in a subject area for which courses haven't yet been developed!), both from the University of Alberta in Edmonton. I am currently loving my chosen career path, as I have recently fallen into a position as a preschool teacher, of all things, in a small school focusing on assisting families of Deaf or hard-of-hearing children. I love writing (duh!) and have been doing so for most of my life. I am self-taught on piano, guitar, and have had professional instruction on the flute, speak a little Spanish, French, am halfways fluent in ASL, and am an amateur photographer as well. I've been writing fanfic for a long time now but most of my earlier stuff is Beatles fan fiction. My Writing Philosophy: My stories tend to write themselves. I have scenes in my head that eventually become longer, more sophisticated works as I stitch them together. I write very loosely, and I would say I'm a very stream of consciousness type of writer. I've gotten very good at turning off my internal editor, making me able to write freely for hours at a time. But I stumble, and hit writer's blocks (as we all do) and so during those moments, my Bible is a little tome called "Room to Write" by Bonni Goldberg and my hymn book is my iTunes library. I am very inspired by music I hear and play, so many musical themes are found littered throughout my work. I loathe grammatical and typing errors (especially if I'm the one who has made them!), because while one or two are forgivable, a story littered with these mistakes becomes absolutely unreadable to me. It's so distracting. So I try and edit my stories very carefully. I prefer writing in third-person, limited or omniscient (depending on what the story needs), but if I feel capable to getting inside my character's head, then I really enjoy writing first-person. For fun, I sometimes write in second-person, but a lot of the time those stories end up sounding like Choose Your Own Adventures so it's rare. Favourite Authors: My husband. I don't read as much as I used to, but when I do read it's usually biographies or non-fiction. I especially love history (Canadian and English are two areas I love!) and travel, and the kind of stuff Malcolm Gladwell writes! Favourite Movies: My absolute, all-time, hands down, favourite film ever is "City Lights" starring Charlie Chaplin. I like so many movies it would be futile to try and list them all here; I pretty much adore most rom/coms and dramas, some thrillers and comedies. But it has to be witty and smart, no matter what it is. Favourite Music: The Beatles... but my iTunes library has thousands of songs on it ranging from Tupac to Mozart. Favourite TV Shows: Arrested Development, Monty Python's Flying Circus, The West Wing, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Community, 30 Rock, Mad Men, X-Files, Twin Peaks, Fringe, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Broadchurch, BBC Sherlock... I love hearing from people! Make sure if you're leaving a review that you sign in (if you can) because I love to follow up and thank everyone for their time--you certainly don't have to review anything but when you do, it's special to me, and if you don't sign in, I can't appreciate YOU! :) You can find me on Tumblr at lynzee005.tumblr.com. I would really love to connect with you!! | |||||||
