Author has written 1 story for Harry Potter. I am a Harry Potter and Ergon fan from India. Though I do like Potter series I would say that last two potter books were disappointing. Firstly I believe that Rowling has steered of the main topic in those book with the pairings .Also the pairings were wrong ones. At least I felt so. I know Rowling wrote the books and had every right to do whatever she wished to the characters but even than it was disappointing to me. My opinion on Harry Potter (Both books and fan fic) I love the characters of James and Lily. It is sad that we didn't get to see much of them. Would have loved it. From the glimpses we get about them and their lives, I can say that they us the meaning of love(I know it sounds cliche, cant help it though).JP teaches us that it ok to be a bit reckless and have fun. LP teaches us the importance of being serious. They teach us to stand up for our friends and family. They teach us the importance of living, for you never know when death (or flight from death) knocks at your door (o breaks through). They teach us to defend the weak. Harry too obviously. Other than these three the characters I like are Sirius Black and Remus Lupin I read a story which talks about how it is likely that Snape being a DE could be blamed on marauders and Snapes home life so I decided to add these few lines. If that is so, can't the same be said for RL and SB? Did they take DE way? It would have been easier for them. RL would be in a group of people like him, who accepted him. SB would have had a great family life. He gave it all up. That is why they are so loveable. They showed strength of character. They show that when all is said and done, whatever the life may throw at you, it is your choice that defines who you are. Just because you have shot life does not mean you should do it to the world. They teach you to stand up for those who cannot do it for themselves. They show you to stand for yourself. They teach you that being good does not mean being a doormat. They teach you the importance of friendship. They teach you that sometimes it is ok to be reckless. They teach you fight for those whom you love and if need arises even die. They teach you laugh even at worst of times. SB teaches you that their is always a ray of hope even in hell or maybe Azkaban. People may take away your freedom. People may take away your happiness. They can take away your innocence. What they cannot take away is your will. It is the only thing that you can give up yourself. SB teaches you that when all happiness has left you, it is still your choice on whether or not to turn to despair. Most importantly they teach you loyalty to the end. Nymphadora ( I hope my head does not blow for that) Tonks Cannot help but love her bubbly personality. I am a hardcore Honks fan. Fred And George and Lee Lee is not mentioned much in the books, but that boy has some guts. Just take a look at his Quidditch commentary. Katie, Alicia and Angelina Oliver Wood Seamus and Dean Arthur W. Neville L. Now for those I severely dislike Severus Snape Some people may be surprised with this. My reason is simple. He is a petty man, who hung on to a grudge against a man long dead. He abused his position of power to get revenge. He called James Potter a coward because JP apparently never dared to confront him alone. He only did so when he had friends with him. Just like Snape and his DE buddies did? Snape hid behind his position as a teacher while he made HPs life a hell. Snce he couldn't stand up to James Potter he attacked his son. He was no better than Petunia. He harassed HP because of something HP never did. He did not even exist at the time.If there is one thing I hate, it such abuse of authority, especially by teachers. He claimed that he loved Lily, yet he made sure that her sons life was hell in one place he could call home. He was aware the kind of life Harry had while at Dursley's and he added on to it. He took perverted pleasure in bringing up those memories of HP which HP would rather forget. He didn't care about invading privacy. He encouraged Draco to be a bully. What he did GOF with Hermione being hexed and with reading the articles in Prophet out loud for the class, was pathetic. He showed that he was no more than pathetic loser who loved to put down those weaker than him. Rather then weaker, he enjoyed attacking people while they were bound (metaphorically speaking). He was hoping that Harry and James would be killed, leaving Lily open for him. He could not win her heart, when he obviously had an advantage over James, so he wanted to get her Husband and Son killed. While I can understand his hostility towards James, what had that innocent child done to him? While he was James son, he was son of Lily too. He knew how broken Lily would be if her son dies. Yet he did not care. Still he claims to love her. More like obsessed with her. How much more pathetic can you get? While Sirius tried to put aside hostility for a common cause, he spat on it by taunting Sirius all the time. He encouraged DE like behavior amongst students. He protected the future probable DEs and encourage them down the wrong path. He was also one of the reasons for the weakened auror force. How many more students had to give their dream of being Auror because he was teaching potions. How many potential healers chose different jobs to avoid him. How many potential DE got help in being Aurors and healers because of him. Is it a wonder that ministry fell as easily. During the first rise Voldemort failed to take over ministry in 11 years. This time he did it in 1-1 1/2 years after he revealed himself. While he did have some obvious advantages this time, still it was the obvious weakness in Ministry security. If anyone still has doubts, take a look at POA or COS. He was a petty teacher and even pettier human. He was willing to let an innocent man face Dementors kiss out some personal childhood grudge. He said that James Potter and later Harry Potter strutted around the scool as if they owned the place. He claimed that James and Harry cared about no one but themselves. In fact both things stood true for Snape himself. James Potter risked a lot to help Remus. James died to save his son and wife. James joined Order because he cared about people other than himself. Not a mark of selfish person. Snape was the one who strutted around as if he owned the place. That man was gleeful that Harry would be expelled. Snape was supposed to be a spy. One in whom Voldemort had lot of trust. I have wonder what exactly had his spying helped with? Saving Amelia Bones? Saving other order members? Saving ministry. Sirius and James grew up. Snape never did. He was a pathetic human. He has always disgusted me. What is worse is that J K Rowling has to certain extent destroyed the reputation of James and Sirius in order to present Snape as a victim. Was he really a victim? On what basis? What we see is just one side of things. Does that mean that he never started any fights?Does that mean he never attacked anyone? Pretty difficult to imagine that since he was a DE. For me, James potter would always be a hero, not Snape. Draco Malfoy Lucius Malfoy Umbridge As some stories rightly call her, Umbitch. Fudge Idiot. Though nothing much can be expected from a politicians. Bellatrix (though I do enjoy Bellatrix being freed from control stories) Vernon, Petunia, Dudley and Marge Ginny W. (I decided to disregard 7th book epilouge and so she would never be Potter for me) Ron W I wouldn't want a fair weather friend like him. When the going gets tough, Ron gets going (away from you). He is always jealous of others, especially Harry. While I can understand that he has 5 elder bros to contend with, that does not mean his behavior is justified. He expects everything to be handed over to him without earning it. He is just as prejudiced as the likes of Malfoys. It was his action which led to such hostility between Harry and Draco. I am not saying that Draco is guilt free, but then neither is Ron. I am not saying that he is all evil. However he is not a friend I would trust to watch my back. I would rather have Neville doing that. Molly W. The pairings I like are James/Lily Harry/Hermione (Though only if she gets down from her righteous horse) Harry/Tonks Harry/Fluer Harry/Susan Harry/Daphne Remus or Sirius/any female character around their age The ships I hate are Harry/Ginny. I dont understand how they both could get together.Till end of fifth book harry is indifferent towards ginny. He dosn't react when informed that she is dating Dean. Now comes sixth book where they are there is lot of mention of love potions with teaching, attempts of Romilda to get harry and of Merope Gaunt using it on Tom Riddle Sr. Harry spends vacation at burrow and then he comes to school and suddenly he has feelings for Ginny.Something is fishy there. Did i mention that the said Ginny is obsessed with the boy who lived who is harry potter. She likes him before meeting him which means its his fame why she likes him. Love may not be about logic , but this was too absurd. We have seen Lily go from hating James to be in love with him. However there was a major reason for that. James Potter changed. He grew up. He matured. Do we see any significant change of that kind here? No. Unless Ginny physically developed at the age of 15 within a span of one-two months and Harry suddenly realized her physique. The description does not hint at that either. Monster in his chest? That is not love. That is obsession. I was actually disappointed that there was no amortentia involved. Could have justified this absurd 'love'. The worst part was " I knew this would happen in the end. I knew you wouldn't be happy unless you were hunting down Voldemort. Maybe that's why I like you so much." It is like she doesn't know him at all. She is still stuck with the hero image of him. All Harry ever wanted was to be normal. He would have been perfectly happy letting Dumbledore handle Voldy. The only problem was that Voldy wouldn't leave him alone. Harry is not coward and wouldn't run away from fight, especially if innocent lives were threatened, but he was not happy going after Voldy. Apparently she never gave up on Harry Potter. While he was noble enough to not stay out of the fight, he would have been happy to let Dumbledore handle Voldemort. He was stuck with that responsibility. 'Maybe that's why I like you'. That says it all. She is in love with the hero. Ron/Hermione What can I say about this one. Always bickering and love-hate relationships are overly used. Ron was the reason she was in girls toilet.he was ready to allow her to die.it was harry who convinced him to come save Hermione. Ron was interested in her after yule ball where she had transformed into a beautiful girl.wow what a love. Insulting her all the time is not love. Mocking her love for knowledge? It was not teasing. That is not love. So this one is totally idiotic relationship. Seems as if JKR never understood love. I think she should have stuck to her core. The wizarding world. Not turned it into romance novel. Then again it is my opinion. Bill/Fleur and Remus/Tonks I dont know where these relations came from but they have absolutely no connection .Remus is more than 12 to 13 years older than NT an as for bill and Fleur. I don't understand what got them together within an year of dating. I would say nearly all new pairings are stupid, except for JP/LP Eragon I love the Dwarves. They are are a proud race but not egoistical or vain. They are helpful. They have their faults, but over all they are very easy to like. They are loyal to their King. That much is clear from the way Ganel obeys Hrothgar despite him being personally against the Varden. More importantly Hrothgar could trust, even the clans who opposed to Eragon and Varden in general, to such and extent to protect Eragon. They way they all united against one of their own clan chief for his attack against Eragon I would say Elves suck. Really. They are egoistical and arrogant race, filled with vanity. They scoff at Dwarves for their worship. What is it that they do with dragons and riders though? It seems that to get their long lives they sacrificed some of their brains. One of the most important difference between Elves and Dwarves is, for Dwarves, the honor comes from within, for Elves it is all about others giving them the honor that they 'deserve'. Dwarves are no less proud creatures than the elves. However the Dwarves seek to gain respect through their deeds. They seek honor through action. Elves expect everyone to respect them just because they are elves, supposedly superior. I especially like leaderships of Hrothgar and Nasuada. Orik is diffcult to say since we did not get to see much of his leadership. Though the way he was at the Clan Chiefs meeting for the election of new Kings, I would say he was able leader. Though Islanzadi is perfect depiction of elves. Suited as their leader. A fool. I dont have much different opinion for Arya either. |
