An Introduction of Sorts

I've always hated when it came to writing a bio, or profile on who I am. Of course, I can easily write down the simple facts of my life, like age, sex, job occupation . . . and etcetera. But alas, I've always been a bit . . . well, odd when it comes to writing these things. Call it being a writer or a youngest child of three who feels the need to seperate herself from the pack.

So, shall I start the intro then?

I was born with the name Ashley, although I've been called Lee for majority of my life. Somehow instead of being called Ash by my mother, she liked Lee instead and the nickname stuck. I've been writing off on and now for the past eight years . . . I began my first fanfiction when I was in the seventh grade and boy did I suck. I won't even bother to post my first story on here, but who knows. Maybe I'll post it as a joke one day.

After my first lackluster attempt at writing fiction, I turned my hand at journalism. I was a reporter for four years at my high school, turned editor-in-chief my senior year and set out with the goal to work as a journalist in the near future. I changed my mind during my first year at college after realizing that I didn't have the heart to write news stories year after year. So here I am, back again, at fan fiction. Hopefully, I'm not too rusty. If I am, send a howler at me.

MADDY'S SCRUTINY
Harry Potter fanfiction with a slight twist. Maddy's Scrutiny is based upon Madeleine Grier, an American Witch attending Pallas Academy of Witches and Wizards, who has hopes of reaching the Minister's office in ten years. But before even reaching the Minister's Office, Madeleine must come to terms between idealization and reality when the war with Lord Voldemort in Europe escalates and questions Madeleine's very own beliefs. (It's pretty much an outside look at the unfolding events in Britain, added with a bit of humor, romance, and drama). WIP.

Here's a preview of Maddy's Scrutiny:

June 17, 1994. Washington D.C.
It was another sweltering day in the D.C. area. The air was thick enough that people were carrying handkerchiefs in hand to swipe at perspiration that trickled down their faces. For those who did not have a handkerchief in hand or seemed as cool on an autumn day, Madeleine Grier knew better. After all, Madeleine was one of the very few people that were happily comfortable in this weather and for those who wondered why, the answer was simple. Madeleine Grier was a witch.
