The Thirteen Commandments of FanFiction.Net

1. Thou shalt not write Mary-Sue or Gary-Stu stories. EVER.
2. Thou shalt not write self-inserts. Please see Commandment #1.
3. Thou shalt learn how to use spell check, proper grammar, punctuation, and syntax.
4. Thou shalt not write stories without the disclaimer, lest ye get sued.
5. Thou shalt not write stories using other FF authors' characters without their permission.
6. Thou shalt not write in chatspeak, even if thou hath written the fic from your cell-phone.
7. Thou shalt not write author's notes that are more than 1/3 the length of the chapter.
8. Thou shalt not write Alternate Universe without labelling it as AU.
9. Thou shalt not change a character's personality from how its Glorious Creator intended it. If you DO change it, label it as as OOC.
10. Thou shalt read the book/play the game, before writing about it. ALL of it. And watching the movie/cutscenes doesn't count.
11. Thou shalt not flame without signing (that's just cowardice!), stating reasons and/or ways story could have been better.
12. Thou shalt not praise those who write POV fics where character does not have OWN personality. i.e. They should have their own thoughts.
13. Thou shalt not write just for the reviews. It is tasteless, tacky and not a good popularity boosting scheme.
