Between Cybertronians it's most commonly referred to as Sparkmates, like Ironhide and Ratchet. Between a Cybertronian and an organic it is called imprinting. After failed evac, Nick and Ellis settle down in Baton Rouge. Six months later, Ellis contracts the infection, which slowly turns him into a hunter. Nick makes the decision to "keep" Ellis despite the transformation.
