![]() Author has written 2 stories for Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V. I am a person. A human inhabitant of planet earth. I write and I watch anime. Sometimes, I write fanfictions of those anime. An amalgamation of hobbies brings me great joy. And anger. And probably cancer from all the chain smoking I do when I write (don't judge, it helps me think). At the moment, I'm writing an original novel. I think it's pretty good, but of course I would. You can judge it when it comes out. Unless you're ThatLoneAvenger or Komori Rias, they have special permissions. My main work here is Yu-Gi-Oh! Reality's Curtain, on which I am doing my best to get going again and actually finish the story I set out to tell, because it's a story worth telling, and therefore it needs to be told. All stories worth telling must be told, in some form or another, or you betray the reality you created and the people who would glean joy from your story. But you have all the time in the world to write it. There is also a secret Yu-Gi-Oh! project currently in development, as a collaboration between me and another user who shall remain nameless. More details will be released as we develop the idea. I could tell you some things about me, but you probably don't give a shit. So instead I'm going to give you some of my opinions on writing: I don't care what your English teacher said, just use said. It allows the dialogue to emote for itself, prevents redundancies such as "'sorry', apologized Brom" and stops your text from looking ridiculous. It stops your readers from having to turn their head back when they read it and go in search of a dictionary. That's not to say that, used sparingly, they can't be put to good use, just use them properly. For instance, as the page says, you can't hiss a line without sibilants or snap a wall of text. Adverbs, too: only use them when they can actually change or add a nuance onto the speech. Voice. If your characters' voices aren't consistent, you have failed to write your character. I hope you're proud of yourself, now go back and edit it. Some Creative Writing teachers will tell you that the most important part of literature is the plot, some will say characters, some remarkably incompetent ones will try telling you that the quality of prose matters most (if that were true, how did 50 Shades of Gray even get a fucking agent?). These people are all wrong. The most important part of your writing is the inner world; the advantage literature has over other forms of media is that the reader can actually experience what it's like to BE your protagonist, so let them. Frequently make references to your character's inner world. Going off the last point, while having sparkling prose means the sum total of jack shit to just about everyone (unless you're writing literary fiction), it can't be bad. If it's bad, it won't be any fun to read. That said, this is the internet, Sturgeon's Law is in full effect and you can all do whatever the hell you want, even if that means uploading a terrible self-insert wish-fulfilment with no discernable grammar and a Mary Sue MC. No skin of my ass, I just won't read it.In case you can't tell, I'm a certifiable asshole: I am blunt as all hell and I really could not give less of a shit what people think of me. So if you have a problem with my tone on this profile, or anything I ever say, feel free to tell me, it's a free country. Just be aware that I probably won't care. If you contact me with story criticisms, though, I do care. I definitely care. So keep those reviews coming, even if it's just your opinion on the story: they are invaluable for both improvement AND motivation. Big up to ThatLoneAvenger for being a good mate, always reviewing and putting up with how picky I am as a beta reader (the amount of times I lectured the guy on speaker tags, seriously folks, just say said!). This website's a little better with you around (helps that your story's pretty good too). Yu-Gi-Oh! Reality's Curtain: Now with TVTropes page!
