![]() Author has written 3 stories for Myst/Riven, and Fallout. August 28th: Still on a break. Things aren't going great for me right now, I can only find scraps of time to write at the moment. Fallout/Myst Crossover Series: Working on it in my spare time. Mostly for my own amusement. I plan on having it go through all the numbered Myst games, and I have something planned in Uru's place. The first couple of fics in the series aren't all that different from Myst cannon, but as it continues you'll see a lot more divergence. While the Stranger in Myst is a silent protagonist, the Courier is not, and likes to make her opinions known. This is both a blessing and a curse for the people she interacts with as her advice can have disastrous results. This will become evident in the second portion of The Cries From Dead Worlds. But sometimes, great change is needed when a threat far worse than anything Atrus or Yeesha have ever encountered lurks in the shadows... (AU of Myst) The Good, the Bad, and the Insane: COMPLETE (AU of Riven) All Along the Watchtower: COMPLETE (AU of Exile) The Cries From Dead Worlds: IN PROGRESS (AU of Revelation) Far From Any Road: PLANNED (AU of End of Ages) Dream On: PLANNED (An original plot) Unity: PLANNED Why Myst and Fallout? You might be wondering why I chose to mix a game with heavy violence at it's forefront and a game that has heavy violence in its background. The simple answer is that I'm doing it to see if I can. No, it's not very Myst to have a fight scene with the Warhk, but it would fit nicely into Fallout. However, that is probably the most violent scene so far (as of the end of All Along the Watchtower). The Courier I'm using isn't very confrontational, preferring to work around getting into fights. Fallout is versatile like that. So while I've made Myst more violent, it's not too much more violent. There aren't fight scenes around every corner, and the Courier had a reason for taking out the Warhk, she didn't just do it because she could. I am using the Courier as a device to bring Myst's violent themes into having a more active role to see how they would be resolved then. A character like the Courier is not afraid to confront the problems surrounding her and will face them head on. That is a trait the Stranger (and later Dr. Watson in Myst V) lack. Do I think the Myst games would have been better if they were more violent? NO! Absolutely not. I love the series for how indirect and subtle it is. I would change nothing from any of the games. Yes, this includes Dream. The Myst Series is one of my favorites, the games should be left as they are. This fanfiction series is not meant to be taken seriously. I am just doing this to see where the story goes. |
