For more than 30 years El Galleon has been one of the
very top dive resorts in Puerto Galera in the
Philippines.

When El Galleon and Asia Divers first came to Puerto
Galera, it was a sleepy little fishing village,
frequesnted by a small number of scuba divers from all
over the world. scuba dive puerto galera And yet, the same divers came again
and again. I feel prividged to know because 30 years
ago I was one of these divers and I can tell you we
all came from great distances for the amazing dives
and the corals.

It is no exageration to say, that within 20 minutes by
boat from the El Galleon dive Resort you will count
more species of fish that can be found in the whole of
the Red Sea. The colars too are amonh the most
beautiful in the world and here in Puerto Galera we
hace a greater number of coral varieties than can be
found in the Great Barrier Reef.

Eventually the Philippine Dept. of Tourism discovered
the Jewel they had below the waves and convinced the
entire local population they could have a better life
as part of the Tourism industry than as fishermen and
once that was agreed the Philippine Government made
the entire area round Puerto Galers a Marine Reserve.

In 2016 the California Academy of Science spent a
month in Puerto Galera. During their one month of
exploring Puerto Galera these scientists discovered in
excess of 100 new species of marine life, known to
science.

Not everyone who visits Puerto Galera knows how to scuba dive and there are numerous actitivities besides diving, such as A world renowned Golf course and trips to places like 'Secret Falls.' Just ask Google what to do in Puerto Galera.

El Galleon is also the home to Asia Divers, which is a PADI training centre, where you can learn the basics of scuba diving, right through to being an instructor.

Unlike most of the world the Philippines only has 2
seasons. The Wet Season and the Dry Season. I tend
to think of Puert Galera as Camelot, becuse even when
it is the Rainy Season most of the rain falls at
night.

The water visibility goes up and down somewhat but 20
Metres I would think of as pretty average. Whilst the
water temperature is like a warm bath all year round
within a constant temperature range of 25C to 28C
