Kind of like I was a cat that had wandered in and refused to leave so they put out some table scraps and threw some rags in the corner." My small contribution for Barricade Day 2014 and the remembrance of the June Rebellion. In his last moments as the eight bullets strike, Enjolras thinks of his friends. He thinks of the fact that wars are not just won by victories, they are won by losses too. In the end, what they have done will matter, because what they believed in will prevail. Enjolras gets mugged outside the Musain by a police officer with a personal grudge against Les Amis and their political activities. Grantaire finds him, and seeing that Enjolras is very out of sorts, does the only logical thing he can think of and takes him to Combeferre and Courfeyrac, learning little more about Enjolras along the way.
