Dempsey has just come out of an undercover operation where his life was constantly in danger, Harry was his control and their relationship was tested. The story follows The Burning and is an old story of mine.

Dempsey and Makepeace are joined by a colleague from another division to solve a smuggling case. Makepeace is keen to make him feel welcome but Dempsey doesn't like having three people in his partnership.

A short one-off. A few of you will already be familiar with this one.

The story is set after "Guardian Angel". Dempsey is in big trouble when a ghost from his past comes back to haunt him. Will Harry be able to help him, or will she become also a victim of his troubled past? How will this affect their working relationship?

This story is after Guardian Angel and Dempsey has yet to ask Harry on a date which causes a certain amount of resentment. His mother is about to visit the UK with a set of mistaken preconceptions about the partners relationship. This doesn't sit well with Lady H and slapstick humour ensues. Don't read this if you are squeamish about Dempsey getting his comeuppance.

Dempsey faces his pain and Harry is the only person he feels would understand, the ramifications of his actions surprise them both.

Dempsey has some surprises in store when he realises what marrying into the aristocracy means and Harry's family aren't exactly thrilled that's she's marrying a New York cop. This story follows on directly from Partners 2.

A serial killer- pressure from above and ghosts from the past conspire against the team. Can Spikings keep his team safe or is this the end of the line?

Dempsey goes back to the States to gain closure unfortunately his methods for dealing with the dirty cops in the NYPD seriously damages his relationship with Makepeace and the faux engagement is terminated. Can their friendship survive? (Partners is the first part of this story).

The festive season is approaching and our family of three are preparing for their first Christmas together, but after everything they've been through over the past few months, Jane has something playing on her mind. Can she face her fears and be able to enjoy Christmas, New Year and a new life?

Harry revisits her past and it makes her rethink some of her life choices and that has repercussions for her relationship with her partner Lieutenant James Dempsey.

This story is related to The Burning with a different twist. Dempsey reveals Harry is a cop to Mara Giardino's team and the story moves on from there. The Partners are pushed into a difficult situation to stay alive and fight another day and their relationship is severely impacted as Harry is pushed out of her comfort zone.

When Jane is mugged on the street for her bag, she is saved by a young woman, Jessica, who turns out to be a lot more to Jane than she first thought, which forces Jane to face her past. With a shock revelation, Jane tells Lovejoy everything about her sorrowful tale, which leaves him surprised about his friend.

Harry's life is put on the line once more. Can she survive or has the honey trap caught her? Will Dempsey and the team be able to find her in time or is this the end for our favourite detectives?

Dempsey & Makepeace one year after the end of series three. Harry is confused and Dempsey is more than a little frustrated.

Follows on from Scar Tissue. Harry is nervous about the upcoming trial while Dempsey is doing his best not to show he cares about it. The man that nearly destroyed them is back to open old wounds and there's nothing their friends can do to help. Can a trip to America and Demspey's kid sister help?

Harry is furious. With Dempsey refusing to talk about his past in New York and him acting out of character will she find the truth? Is a man Dempsey has spent his whole life trying to forget back to cause more heartache? Can Harry save him from himself?

When Charlie Sachs, a sculptor at the Weathervane Art Studios goes missing, his government minister father pulls strings to get SI-10 on the case. Dempsey looks forward to his undercover role but Makepeace suspects hers is going to be her toughest challenge yet. *Dedicated to that dirty little tramp, Inga who will be featured later on in this story*

Following on from Pt1&2. D& M having given into desires less than romantically are forced to confront their feelings, but 2forces are plotting against them. Gene and Alex unaware of the of the full story, have to protect their own NYPD runaway Leroy. With an inquest a court case, can they all pull together or will events ruin relationships forever.

Harry has been given a blow by Dempsey which could change their relationship forever. Is it too late for them?

This is Harry and James's second case as lovers as well as partners in SI-10. Their intimate relationship is still a tightly held secret. A dead, unidentifiable body, a knight of the realm and one of London's crime barons take Dempsey and Makepeace on a dangerous journey. Thwarted every time they get close to an arrest, is there a cuckoo in the nest?

Companion piece to Truth. Harry survived the encounter with the Thriller Killer but it is still having an effect on her. Dempsey is determined not to let his fear of losing her win while someone from Spiking's past is back to haunt them. Can Chas help keep his friends safe or is a trip to Wales going to be the one thing that breaks them?

Disappointed with the TV episode? Perhaps this would have been more appropriate - perhaps even more satisfying.

As a huge fan of Dempsey and Makepeace and, seeing as Michael Brandon and Glynis Barber have been happily married for 25 years, I thought a different ending to the last episode would be more fitting. It follows some of the dialogue from the shows, but in the main is my take on how it could, or should, have finished.
