The story of Breath of the Wild, as told by me! I was never satisfied with the very vague memories and always found the backstory to BOTW to be the most interesting part. Now with heavy inspiration from Calm waters run deep (MaryDragon defo check it out if somehow you haven't already) and my own imagination here is a more relationship-driven story. Originally on AO3 but here it is!

The kingdom of Hyrule is devastated by the Calamity, much has to be done to restore the once peaceful kingdom of Hyrule. As progress is made, Link and Zelda begin to wonder about the Triforce and how it affects them personally and the kingdom, and about their own intentions towards each other. Where will this lead them? And how will they face it, together? M for s-scene/s later.

Zelda, who is a regular girl who has been traveling the country, stops in Hateno Village and competes in an archery contest where she meets a handsome young man named Link. She thinks she has it in the bag until he shows her that she isn't the only one with some skill. - Leads to Link & Zelda traveling Hyrule together. - BoTW ZeLink - Link and Zelda alternating First Person PoV.

Due to my dissatisfaction with certain parts of this story (looks sullenly at the Zora arc), I have chosen to rewrite large sections of it before finishing it. Because the rewrites have become so massive that I am reposting this fic entirely. Eventually, this version will be deleted; however, that won't happen until the rewrites catch up. (Discontinued) Daruk and Urbosa watch as Zelda struggles to unlock her powers, agreeing that she needs to brighten up and let go of her worries. It seems like a stretch, but maybe they can set her up with a certain incarnation of the godess’s chossen hero. They may be distant with each other, but it’s worth a shot, right?
