She has never been easy to love... / Free-verse poetry about Kate told from Rick's POV. Various references to the show are made, so spoilers are technically in play for all episodes. The rain has lessened, she thinks inanely, clinging to the random scraps of reality that she can process as they zip and crisscross through her brain. Much less than the downpour that stranded them here, on the side of some highway in the middle of New Jersey. A season four story, set after 'Cuffed.' One-shot. NOT a Christmas story. :)

AU: Beckett is a uniform on the Vice squad at the 12th, five years before she and Castle actually meet in the show. Based on an idea of Cartographical - chezchuckles and I just liked it so much that we each wrote our own. Variations on the same theme, sort of.

This is inarguably the worst thing she's ever agreed to. She consciously forces her limbs to relax, tries to block out the knowledge of the set of eyes that are irrevocably fixated on every one of her movements.
