Author has written 1 story for Kingdom Hearts. I hate monotonously written stories. I hate secondary plot lines that are introduced and forgotten about. I hate useless characters that only serve as a name to tie in the story to the pre-established universe. I hate incompetent people that think they're the Shakespeare of the twenty-first century. I hate people that beg for reviews, but only want the positive (useless) ones. I hate people that can't tell the difference between constructive criticism and asinine flaming. I hate obnoxious pre-story annotations where the story's characters have a conversation with each other and the "author", which is supposed to be wacky and funny, but only comes off as obnoxious and completely asinine. I hate ten year-olds that think they're impervious to criticism. I hate smut. I hate overrated stories that aren't actually stories, but rather delusional "wacky" tales that meander from place to place with no character development, plot cohesiveness, or actual weight in the story, completely undermining the idea of storytelling in the first place. I hate people with overly simplistic vocabulary. I hate people that use the fuck out of fucking curse words in a fucking attempt to artificially create fucking humor without making any fucking jokes because they're too fucking stupid to figure out how. I hate how I sometimes go against myself to prove a point. I hate white knights, in real life and in stories. I hate people that equate their self-worth and writing skill with their view count, word count, review count, and/or story count. I hate people that didn't know how to keep a consistent past or present tense in their story. I hate people that don't beta-read their stories and prioritize fast updates over any quality control. But among all of the things, there's one thing I hate above all. I hate original characters, because there's nobody on ff.net that's skilled enough to create an original character with actual human flaws and character development, which is why they're writing fan fiction rather than real original stories. The competent fan fictioners know that they can't create a balanced OC and stick to the established canon and characters or branch out in AU and get mauled alive. The incompetent fan fictioners, which makes up most of the prepubescent girls that want Cloud and Sephiroth to make out, will desperately insert themselves into romantic situations in order to fulfill their dreams of making out with Sora and Riku at the same time - a sickeningly easy to point out category of writing in the fan fiction community, because every story with an OC is exactly like the very latter. Because fan fictioners can only dream of writing stories, and only the most elite can write competent characters. But, paradoxically, these are the reasons I love fan fiction. |
