Background: she got 'abandoned' by her parents, ran away and got found by Older hiccup. Eventually older hiccup adopts her not wanting her to go into a foster home or being by herself. He doesn't mind her calling him dad because she doesn't have one, and Astrid is ok with her calling her mom. But she never was able to tell them the gift she has because she doesn't know how to bring it up. Until one day she goes into the past, meets younger hiccup and astrid and accidentally brings them to the future. Eventually, she was able to tell her mom and dad about her gifts/they kinda found out at one point.
