Author has written 7 stories for Spice and Wolf, Misc. Comics, and Vocaloid.

Hello! My name is Alvin, and go by my initials (AJLKS) when writing. I'm pursuing a career in academia (specifically in stem cell biology), but also write fiction, read books/manga, watch anime, and play video games.

Playing computer games is probably my number one hobby. If you're interested in knowing what games I like just search ajlks1994 on steam. I mostly read mangas and translated Japanese light novel these days, though I'm looking out for books from Simon Scarrow, Bernard Cornwell, and R.A. Salvatore. I don't watch much besides anime, the only other series I follow is The Walking Dead and several shows produced by Rooster Teeth.

I used to do Taekwondo (got a 3rd dan), but dropped it after breaking two bones in my right hand in exchange for two bricks. I'd like to get back into it one day. I also do scuba diving. Did you know that the venom of a Blue-Ringed Octopus can kill two dozen people in minutes and has no antivenom? Neither did I, and it was quite a chore scanning the sand at 40m underwater for it.

I don't really have a music taste. It depends whether it clicks with me or not and tends to change over time. That said, I've been listening to Vocaloids and Nightcore for the past few years.

I've been writing for quite awhile now, and only started to publish them online within the past few years. I usually write fantasy, general fiction, and fan fiction. Some of my favorite authors are J.K Rowling, R.A. Salvatore, Simon Scarrow, Christie Golden, and Bernard Cornwell.

My reason for writing is to convert what I experience into something creative that the reader can also experience. Whether that is a moral lesson, an aspect of human culture, a particular feeling in a particular setting, and so on.

I also publish on booksie.com and fictionpress.com under the same pen name (AJLKS). Do spare a bit of time to check out my works, and hopefully leave a comment/review!

I also recently got a twitter account. No idea how to use it yet :P

Man, the last few months have been busy. Doing a Master's by Research (MRes) is almost a full time job, that is Monday-Friday from 9-5, with only public holidays and applied leave, except without any pay. Still, the science is very fascinating, so definitely worth it. Volume 3 of LoS&W (I'm sure you can work that out eh?) is progressing at a snail pace, and this time not solely because of procrastination! Can't promise when it'll be done, but it's still on my conscience. In the meantime, I've been working on short stories as they're way more manageable to do with my current time schedule. They're good fun to do. Also, decided to change my profile picture to my dog, named Jaegar. Isn't he adorable? It'll be Christmas soon, so Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone. May 2017 be more kind compared to this year. (November 2016)

Notice as of November 2017:

I've decided to publish my works in Booksie, and will be inactive on Fanfiction. Reasons why is because I can better engage with readers on Booksie, I can better monitor how my works are received, and I personally find Booksie more suitable (such as being able to upload images). That said, I am immensely grateful to Fanfiction. It was the first platform I used to publish. If you'd like to continue viewing my works, please consider visiting my profile on Booksie ( or Google "Booksie AJLKS". Thank you very much.

Just Like The Way It Used To Be
Adapted from a post I saw a long time ago on 9gag, this 500-word piece deals with the aftermath of a suicide. That is, the ones still alive.
Misc. Comics - Rated: T - English - Tragedy - Chapters: 1 - Words: 520 - Published: 4/7/2017 - Complete
Little Parade
This 670-worded piece is my interpretation of K-dash's Little Parade, featuring Hatsune Miku. This amazing song poetically explores (in the way Vocaloids do best) feelings of depression, suicidal thoughts, self-ridicule, and doubt, while maintaining an introspective focus using a vague narration of some sort of separation. Confused? Well, it's 4am, so I apologize. Now enjoy!
Vocaloid - Rated: K+ - English - Tragedy/Hurt/Comfort - Chapters: 1 - Words: 750 - Follows: 1 - Published: 4/3/2017 - Complete
Tattle-tale Classroom reviews
This very short story(?) is a retelling of the famous "Chururira Chururira Daddadda!" by Kurage-P, featuring Yuzuki Yukari. In short, it's about tattle-taling in school, a thing I'm sure has happened to many of you out there. Though in this case, it's gone several steps further... Warning, there's lots of emoticons, so if that's not your cup of tea, you've been warned. Enjoy!
Vocaloid - Rated: T - English - Mystery/Humor - Chapters: 1 - Words: 1,498 - Reviews: 1 - Published: 11/27/2016 - Complete
Synchronicity reviews
This short story is based on a wonderful Vocaloid trilogy named Synchronicity, composed by Hitoshizuku-P featuring Rin and Len. This version deviates somewhat from canon while roughly following the same plot-line, and rather than traditional storytelling the style leans more on the lyrics/poetic nature of the original. Sorry if it's not even 75% accurate to the original, and enjoy!
Vocaloid - Rated: K+ - English - Fantasy/Adventure - Chapters: 1 - Words: 2,339 - Reviews: 1 - Favs: 1 - Follows: 1 - Published: 11/23/2016 - Complete
Lineage of Spice and Wolf Vol 2 - Wolf and New Intrigue reviews
After leaving Ponoka, Joshua and Yue are now headed for Ruvenheigen, where her nephew works as the branch manager of the Rowen Guild. There they embark on their next journey, though it is uncertain how long their partnership will last. Along the way, more of their past will be revealed, while in the present they encounter new political, financial and medical intrigues.
Spice and Wolf - Rated: T - English - Fantasy/Adventure - Chapters: 11 - Words: 32,980 - Reviews: 3 - Favs: 7 - Follows: 13 - Updated: 7/15/2016 - Published: 7/3/2016 - OC - Complete
The Heart Peddler And The Heartsmith reviews
An adaptation of the "Would You Like To Buy A Heart?" comic strip found on 9gag, with a few minor changes. The story is set in a not-so-unfamiliar fictional 19th century western world, advancement in science, technology and medicine has made people cast aside their 'heart'.
Misc. Comics - Rated: K - English - Fantasy/Spiritual - Chapters: 1 - Words: 2,963 - Reviews: 1 - Favs: 4 - Follows: 1 - Published: 6/22/2016 - Complete
Lineage of Spice and Wolf Vol 1 - Wolf and New Journey reviews
Set after the light novels. The age of beasts and deities are long gone, but some still live, disguised in human form. 60 years had passed since Diva's gold coins were minted in Sovereign; 55 years since the hot-springs inn 'Spice & Wolf' opened in Nyohhira. In the wake of a new era comes a new journey, taken by the progeny of the Wisewolf and the olive-skinned companion she meets.
