What started off as a Bernie/Serena one-shot that sort of spilled itself out on the page after reading a comment on Tumblr. has now started to develop into something more thanks to a review! Set in/after 'Indefensible'. Mild spoilers for this episode if you haven't watched it.

After a day spent attending to various patients and their intriguing ailments, Serena finds herself wanting a little something more from Bernie.

I love the story line of Bernie and Serena in Holby City but it's moving at a glacial pace. This is my attempt to speed things up a little. It is a twist on the episode, Brave New World.

Prompt: Bernie comes home at Christmas. Serena doesn't know she's back but Jason does. Jason let's Bernie in after Serena has fallen asleep, it's 3 am on Christmas Day. Bernie hides in the living room with a bow on her chest, she falls asleep on the sofa and Serena finds her in the morning. Serena wakes her up with a kiss and Bernie asks if she's a good Christmas present.

When Serena agrees to go for a meal with Bernie, she doesn't realise it's to the posh Italian restaurant for couples on the high street... Luckily, she dressed for the occasion. Berena one-shot.

An envelope leads to an unfolding tale of mystery angst and romance.

A little drabble inspired by a prompt I saw on Tumblr months ago that I only just got around to writing. In this alternate universe, everyone knows what the first words their soul mate says to them are going to be. Is it really any wonder that Serena hasn't found anyone that's said "Engine been whining or growling?" Apologies for the bad summary and my overuse of commas in this.
