Sherlock gets sick, not 'he'll recover in a few days' sick but hospitalised for a long time sick. His friends are all there to help him but he is Sherlock, he doesn't want or need their help. Sherlock returns, but his friendship with John is damaged. Nevertheless, they embark on their final hunt to finish off Moriarty's net, but it ends in a catastrophe: Sherlock is shot and lapses into a coma. As John keeps vigil, he reads Sherlock's diary written during the hiatus. Slowly, he begins to understand and finds himself wishing for another miracle. Completed.
