Mimi was born in 1974 and grew up within the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. In school he became recognized because the 'good drawer' which partly compensated for constantly becoming the shortest child in every class. He graduated through the College of WA in 1995 with joint honours in Great Arts and English Literature, and presently works complete time like a freelance artist and writer in Melbourne.
