Author has written 22 stories for Sherlock. I have been a writer all my professional life, but there is a huge difference between being a journalist and author professionally and now writing something out of sheer love and abiding interest about a subject that has been a lifelong love - Sherlock Holmes! No slash, johnlock, silly pairings, poetry or fluffy stuff. No AU or anything similar; the subject matter as it stands is strong enough and rich enough and complex enough to need none of that. Just writings about our favourite consulting detective in his 21st century incarnation and environment. I have been a woman's page editor, equestrian sport writer, feature writer, theatre critic, showbiz writer and arts editor: I have also written light romantic stories, series, and serials for magazines, novels published and unpublished. I have also written articles on crime fiction for a crime and detective fiction magazine for more years than I care to think about. Other heroes include Christopher Tietjens, Sid Halley, Willie Garvin, Evan Smoak, Dr Strange, Peter Wimsey, Duke Vincentio (Measure For Measure) and Javert. Real life heroes will always include the three Alans (Bennett Plater and Garner) Philip Larkin, Ted Hughes, Ian Rankin, GK Chesterton, Siegfreid Sassoon, Jan Gabarek, John Harle, Monteverdi and Elgar and Sibelius, William Byrd and Benjamin Brittain and Purcell, Stephen Sondheim, the late Mike and Lal Waterson - God bless them -and all the Waterson family, Philip Quast, Terry Hands, Peter O'Donnell, Martin Edwards, my best and longest serving and truly inspirational friend Bill (Puck, Iago, Christopher Marlowe, Flamineo and all) and of course the inspiration that comes direct from the Sherlock creative team and their Sherlock who this long serving theatre critic is more than happy and more importantly, absolutely accurate to describe as the actor of his generation. And we all know who that is! Thank you all across the years and the lifetimes. Whatever appears here is for you all, with love. |
