Jaune was only worried about two things in life; graduating from high school and dodging his hated bully. He didn't care about the supernatural, nor believe in it. But a chance encounter with a mysterious girl in red will open his eyes to a world that lives beside our own, a dangerous and deadly secret. But beware, child, for eyes once opened to the truth may never again be closed.

Victory can prove bitter, especially when you're the only one alive to see it. With the world in chaos and everyone he ever loved dead, Jaune Arc makes a deal with the devil for one last chance to go back and change it all. But devils don't play by the same rules as humans, and Salem never did say how far back he'd go. Or how much deeper the war between her and Ozpin really went.

When Jaune's forged transcripts were rebuffed, his only option was to return home in disgrace or forge a new life in Vale. Opening a diner was an impetuous decision, being good at it a stroke of luck. Becoming the favourite haunt for students, teachers and criminals alike…? That was neither, but it sure did keep things interesting. Wasn't the civilian life supposed to be easier?

Jaune had always wanted to go to a school to learn to battle the creatures of Grimm. But as a boy with no huntsmen training, no huntsmen knowledge, and no huntsmen transcripts, he had absolutely no chance of getting into a school like that legally. Everyone but Jaune Arc failed the initiation. Ozpin was speechless. He knew the boy's transcripts were fake, indulged the act, but never foresaw this outcome. Now the numbers were skewed, and a team wasn't possible. Exploiting his forgery would backfire. No, he reluctantly folded the hand Fate bestowed upon him. The Arc must explore Beacon Academy alone.

Every family has its odd member, the one that doesn't fit. Jaune was just that, the black sheep. He had always wanted to be the hero, to be a Huntsman. But when your name is Jaune Salem Arc - Prince of the Grimm - and your mother is understandably against the idea, what is a young man to do? Why, run away to attend Beacon in pursuit of a dream, of course. What could go wrong?

They weren't lovers. They certainly weren't friends. At best, they qualified as acquaintances. However, one crazy night changes all of that. Pretending it didn't happen would have been the smart choice. Unfortunately, neither Blake nor Jaune is all that good at making smart choices.
