My name is Miya. I think you can get a sense of what makes me, me by two simple fun facts about myself. For starters, I am a freshman at Illinois State University (don’t worry that’s not the fun part.) The fun part is, last year, I won two senior superlatives: “Most Likely to Return to My High School as Faculty” (for two reasons… First, I am a Special Education major. But, more than that, I am in love with my high school. If anyone fits the “#stuckinhighschool” tag, it would be me. So, returning one day as faculty is kind of the dream.) I also won “Most Likely to be a PTA Mom” (pretty self explanatory… “Oh my goodness be careful!” “You’re going to get hurt.” “Do you need a Band-Aid? I have some in my bag. They are Mickey Mouse” all parts of my everyday language.)

I also think that you can tell the kind of person I am by my favorite quote. It is a lyrics from a Zac Brown Band song (yes, I am proudly a basic white girl.) But, the quote is short and simple, “Life is good today.” In my mind that is all you need- for life to be good, today. The beautiful thing is you say it again the next day and it works the same way. “Life is good today.” I am an optimist, silver-lining, glass half full kind of girl.
