Hello! Thanks for taking the time to view my profile, I hope that you find something here you can enjoy! About Me: I wouldn't exactly call myself an aspiring writer, but it is something that I enjoy. Whenever I read a book or series, I tend to create my own stories in that same world, either with the characters in the book, or sometimes coming up with new ones. And that's what lead me here to FanFiction, a bit of a desire to share those worlds with all of you! I am a 19 year old guy living in Minnesota, United States. Currently, I'm trying to save up for college by working as a carpenter's apprentice building residential houses. As I have typically an hour long commute in the morning, and quite a bit longer in the afternoon, I tend to listen to audio books to keep myself awake while driving. Needless to say, I've gone through quite a few books at this point, and I thoroughly enjoy both reading and listening to books. Favorite Series: Inheritance - Its really good. I started reading them as a kid in junior high, and as a young guy I was hooked. The fourth book was a bit unsatisfying in my own opinion, but I still love the series as a whole, especially seeing Paolini grow as a young author during that time and the changes to his writing style. Shadow Dance - I picked this up recently on a whim, and I'm glad I did. Good characters, good story telling, great plot, I love it. The author has been republishing the books recently (he self published them before), and is tidying up plot holes and such with the republish. I strongly recommend the series to anyone who likes fantasy. Enders Game/Shadow - Both excellent books. I don't care too much for the other sequels, but both books are spectacular. I think that Ender's Shadow is a bit better, partly just because I like the protagonist a bit more, and also because I think that the writing is better. Both a definite read. Game of Thrones - I've been listening to the audio books while driving for the past six months or so. Spectacular is all I can say. It gets a bit slow at times, but the writing is superb, plot twists are everywhere, and you'll be pissed off at the author every few chapters! Or you could just watch the show...but the books are always better! The Ethos Effect - Not everyone's cup of tea, but I really like it. A standalone book from L. E. Modsitt, its a sci-fi that questions moral and ethical dilemmas while taking you through an adventure in the far reaches of space! Like I said, its not for everyone. Stories I am working on: Untitled Inheritance book - Like it says, I'm not sure what to name it yet. The first few chapters are written at the moment, I'm just waiting to upload them until I am sure about a few plot points. All you really need to know right now is that it takes place about ninety years after the last Inheritance book with the riders restored and relative peace in the land. Mostly peaceable anyway. For now. Other Questions You Might Have! Why FanFiction? I love books, I love writing. English was my favorite subject in high school, and in the past year or so out of school, I mostly stopped all writing. FanFiction seemed like a decent way to get some practice in, and hopefully create something enjoyable for other people. What does Umbra Laminas mean? Roughly translated from Latin as Shadow Blade, or Blade of Darkness. I took Latin for two awful years in high school, and that's all that stuck. Note: probably not declined correctly, but whatever. I don't care. |
