![]() Author has written 1 story for Guardians of Ga'Hoole. Ahh... Hello! Welcome to my profile. Let this be a warm and welcoming place for all. Imagine you are in a cozy teahouse on a mountain side. Out the window is a valley stretching as far as the eye can see. The hills to each side are covered in evergreens, and a river snakes between them. You can't see the river, you only know it's there because you saw it last summer. Winter has arrived, and the water has turned as solid and white as bone, blending in with the snow-covered trees surrounding it. There's about two feet of the stuff on the ground, entombing the earth and its colors. The unprepared traveler would likely freeze to death in only a couple hours, but we shouldn't dwell on such things. You're here, inside, where a wholesome fire dances and crackles wildly in its hearth. The walls are thick, the windows double paned. A stoic oak door rests on ancient cast iron hinges, sealed tight through these harsh months. Strewn about the walls are a variety of tools, pelts, and other knickknacks. The room itself is quite small however, and the writing desk in the corner takes up nearly a quarter of it. There's a bookshelf built into the far wall, though it's practically empty (subtle nudge to myself). The rest of the space is dedicated to two large chairs, and they're the big kind, the kind you can sink right into if you're not careful. The floor is composed of lacquered oak boards with a beige shag throw rug sprawled across them for good measure. You are alone in this room, save for a single crow sleeping on the cobblestone mantle. He seems quite comfortable right where he is, so we'll leave him be for now. The name "Crowfire" comes from the title of the second book in a four book series I wish to write someday. Here are some quotes: "If you're going through hell, keep going." "You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club." "Science isn't about why; it's about why not." "Nobody can give you control over your own life. You have to take it." "Keep moving forward." And my personal favorite: "Blessed are those who believe, for indeed they shall fly." Call this a decent start. I'll add more later. |
