Instead of being sucked into the Time Lock with the rest of Gallifrey in The End Of Time, The Master finds himself on Parallel Earth where he meets Rose Tyler. With the sound of drums gone and his sanity returned, he finds that maybe he and Rose are two broken pieces that fit perfectly together.
