![]() Author has written 1 story for Doctor Who. Hello, my name is Andrew Bohman, and I'm a rather obsessive Doctor Who fanboy. A fan of both old and new Who, I take particular interest in the Doctor's home planet and his people. As a result, I'm fascinated by the Time War and the War Doctor's experience, so I have embarked on a series of fan-fiction books giving my interpretation of the events, entitled "No Peace on Gallifrey." This fanfiction.net page was created to publish my first and, probably only, works of fan-fiction. It has also been published on whofic.com. Writing is one of my two main passions (the other being music), I've been an avid reader and writer for more than half my life (alternately, since I was 8 years old and fell in love with the works of Tolkien). I've written several philosophical opinion articles for the news site Doctor Who TV, and hence had a bit of experience sharing my writing with the Whovian world. The feedback was generally fairly positive, so I thought, "What's the worst that could happen?" (I may end up eating my words there…) I had never written a fan-fiction before, as I've always been a little adverse to them due to the stereotypes of poorly-written romances—I've never actually even read an entire fan-fiction, to be honest. But I was drowning in ideas and simply couldn't contain myself anymore. So I embarked on the research and planning process, scouring Doctor Who wikis, books, and episode transcripts, until I created a structure for a series of books, and had a rather complete set of ideas. According to my plan, each volume will be a short novel; think about the length of a Classic Who story as opposed to a three-hour movie. My goal is to make this read like a book rather than a fan-fiction, and to stick with the established canon—basically make it to where it could pass for an official Doctor Who book. As far as my writing goes, I'm a believer in good prose and grammar, though I deem my work to be a rather far cry from "good prose," I still take care when crafting the English language. Hopefully my writing style comes across as decent without being too boring. Hopefully. Also, I will say this as a note about the rating of my writing. I try to hold myself to a higher moral standard (like the Doctor), so my writing is completely clean. I guarantee that there is absolutely no foul language or adult content. Not even any romance (well, that's mostly 'cause I'm a guy). I do however have some intense war violence and some darker scenes, and though it's not outright gory, it would carry a PG-13 rating if made into a film. Hence, the "T" rating. Feedback and support is greatly appreciated. If you like my fan-fiction, please let me know in the comments. If you don't, still let me know (and say why). I honestly have no idea how well this will be received, so anything to let me know and help me improve would be appreciated. Thanks! |
