Read this for English Class. Mercutio is definitely my favorite character; Romeo is just whiny and Juliet's okay. The nurse is made of hilarity. Anyway, back to Mercutio. The story I have to tell is this: we watched the movie in English (the older one, not the one with Leonardo DeCaprio, much to everyone's initial chagrin) and I told my friend: "Romeo could've avoided all that stuff with Juliet, I mean look at him and Mercutio! They are made for each other!" She agreed, and this discussion led me to wonder if there was fanfiction of it. Lo and behold there was, but there was even more of Mercutio/Benvolio. I read some and was hooked; Benvolio is a lot less fickle and whiny than Romeo. So I now prefer Benvolio/Mercutio, though I still ship Romeo/Mercutio. And the occasional Mercutio/OC fic might catch my fancy once in a while. I do not like Mercutio to be a grave man, I much prefer him alive.

And it doesn't hurt that he's pretty ;)
