In the chaos of the ongoing First Contact War, the Alliance is contacted by a resistence cell comprised of captured humans on Palaven, and Shepard is drafted for a covert mission to make contact. Her cover lands her where? The Vakarian household, of course. Shepard/Garrus, AU.

A new race was discovered and annihilated. A century passed and Citadel space forgot, but Humanity never did.

Is a second chance enough? Instead of the Catalyst's choices, Shepard lucks into a cosmic loophole. Thrown back to the very start of her Spectre career, she has to try and save the galaxy again from the Reapers ... but does she really know what's coming? 2015 NaNoWriMo winner!

Humanity never developed FTL. The Prothean archives contained no technology, no Element Zero, just a warning. Isolated from the rest of the galaxy for two thousand years, restricted to their only system, how will humanity have changed when they first meet the Turians?
