Preface:

So, I've finally decided to get around to making a profile, mainly because I really need somewhere to rant about fanfic stuff, or just to post my thoughts and ideas about fanfic stuff. I've been planning to actually write stuff in my profile for at least half a year (probably more like since mid-2013), but I was way too lazy to actually do it, and starting is always the hardest part of anything for me.

It is highly likely that my profile will eventually get very long because of the large number of things I know I will write about here. In anticipation of this, in order to make my profile more navigable for both myself and anyone who reads it I will be organizing this page by section, and will have a table of contents. In order to jump to any particular section simply copy the section number and/or title and use your browser's find function to search for it. So, without further ado, the table of contents is below.

Section 1: Who is Walk The Max Planck?

The amount of information I put in here will change over time as I add more stuff. If you want to get to know me better than what's here in my profile, or if you want to be friends then please feel free to PM me; I'd be happy to talk, get to know you, and tell you more about myself. If I write enough stuff in this section I may group things into even more separate subsections, but that will require a lot more information than I've currently included.

Occupation: complicated

Background: 2nd generation Canadian, i.e., my parents were born in Canada, but my grandparents were all immigrants. My ancestry is English, Irish, probably some Scottish, Norwegian, Hungarian, one of Hungary's neighbouring countries that I can't remember, and considering the amount of migration throughout Europe over the centuries, probably a bit of the rest of Europe as well. Basically, I have the standard dog's breakfast, everything but the kitchen sink mix of European that most European's have.

Physical description: 5' 10" (178cm); about 160lb (72.5kg); relatively slim build and long limbs; caucasian; green eyes; short, medium brown, slightly wavy hair. If you want more detail than that, then I suppose you can PM me.

1.2: About Me

Why my screen name is Walk The Max Planck if my name isn't Max:
I am a physics major, and so am unsurprisingly pretty into physics. Max Planck is a famous physicist of the early 20th century who is essentially the father of quantum theory, and thus quantum mechanics, since he was the first person to propose the quantization of energy. My screen name is simply a combination of the phrase "walk the plank" and the name Max Planck. Similarly, I also commonly use the screen name HeisenIceBerg, a combination of "iceberg" and Heisenberg, another one of the founders of quantum mechanics.

Fanfics genres I follow: I mostly read Naruto and Naruto crossover fanfics, although I also read some Harry Potter. Other fanfics that aren't crossovers with one of those are few and far between on my reading list.

I'll add more stuff about myself (music, sports, hobbies, interests, likes, dislikes, etc.) at a later date, but this is good enough for now.

Section 2: Naruto Universe and Fanfics Discussion

This section is where I'll write about any of my ideas, views, thoughts, rants, or other stuff about the Narutoverse and Naruto fanfics. I'll put each separate discussion in it's own subsection, and if there are enough related topics then I will create group them into subsections and subsubsections.

Note: For now I am simply listing all of the different topics that I eventually want to write about, so that I will have a list to reference; I will get around to actually writing the discussion for all of them eventually, but for now some or all of them may be empty.

2.1: Konoha and Naruto

The subject of this section is pretty obvious: Naruto's relationship with the people of Konoha, and how the people of Konoha treat him, specifically during his childhood. However, while the subject may be obvious it is anything but simple. Properly understanding and characterizing the various aspects of this relationship requires at least a partial understanding of human psychology and nature. It is also necessary to be able to look at the situation from the differing perspectives of multiple parties, objectively view the situation, separate oneself from any emotional attachment to Naruto, and be realistic in the portrayal of people, rather than portraying people as irrationally evil or stupid. Not having that partial understanding or the ability to do the aforementioned things tends to lead to some of the more implausible cliches we see in Naruto fanfics. A lack of due thought and creativity, as well as bad story telling skills, does not help the situation in those cases.

The first two topics (2.1.1 and 2.1.2) are my attempt at evaluating Konoha's relationship with Naruto in a realistic and well thought out way, using my accumulated understanding of human psychology and nature, while also following the guidelines I've set out above. The next 3 topics (2.1.3-2.1.5) are my view on several prominent cliches, along with a listing of the flaws in them, why they are unrealistic, and which of the components necessary for properly evaluating the Konoha-Naruto relationship were absent in the creation of said bad cliches. The last topic of this section (2.1.5) is what I believe to be a reasonable explanation for why nobody in canon seems to figure out who Naruto's parents are.

(I don't know why the way I wrote this turned out to be like an essay on the topic, but that's just how it came out. Don't expect it to always be like this, but don't be surprised if it is; that's just the way I write sometimes.)

Section 4: My Stories: Current and Ideas

This section lists ideas I have for stories, as well as any stories I am currently working on or writing, along with the status of any story I've posted. Currently I have lots of ideas, but I haven't actually started writing any stories. For some of my story ideas I have planned a lot, while for others I only have a general idea. I'm hoping to actually get around to writing something at some point, but starting something (anything really) is always the hardest part for me. All story titles are preliminary until posting, and even then are subject to change.

As noted above, I will eventually fill in all of these sections with information and discussion.
