AUish Tag to "After School Special" – Teenchesters – Sick Sam / Big Brother Dean – There was a distinct line between feeling like you might throw up...and knowing without a doubt that you were definitely going to throw up. Such was the horrifying realization as Sam shifted uncomfortably and swallowed hard while he stood beside Dean in the hallway of Truman High.

Season Nine – Sassy Abaddon / Vulnerable Sam / Big Brother Dean – Dean felt dread crawl up his spine, suddenly knowing what Abaddon had realized...that Sam was unprotected from possession. In the next instant, Abaddon's head flung back, black smoke erupting from her mouth and swirling in the air before streamlining straight toward Dean's little brother.

Sam is a wax statue in the hospital bed, a pale, silent, still imitation of himself.

Pre-Series – Upset Sam/Big Brother Dean – While Dean couldn't bring their mom back, he could make sure his little brother felt safe and loved. He could make sure Sam's childhood included the things it should...like having cupcakes for the kid's kindergarten party.

Dean's anxiety spiked to new levels when he walked back into the kitchen, eyes searching until they fell upon his still unconscious little brother – his little brother who hadn't moved an inch from his position on the kitchen floor since the crazy-ass chef had chased Dean out of the room.

Pizza Pie 'verse – 4-yr old Sam, 8-yr old Dean, Awesome Uncle Bobby, Puppy Rumsfeld...and John being John – Bobby continued to listen, hearing Dean's voice as it floated down the hall; the big brother talking Sam through his usual bedtime routine as if it was just another night. As if the four-year old wasn't covered in blood. As if Dean wasn't also covered in blood.

9x02 Tag – Come Darkness, Come Light 'verse – Dean felt his stomach clench at the icy blue glowing back at him from his little brother's eyes. It appearing as though Ezekiel was trying to surface while Sam was still very much awake and alert.

Season 9 – Come Darkness, Come Light 'verse – Weak Sam / Big Brother Dean – Only two days had passed when Sam asked the question. "Who's Ezekiel?"

Post 8x23, Pre 9x01 – Sick, Hospitalized Sam / Worried, Big Brother Dean – Dean had supported all of Sam's weight as he had carried the kid toward the ER, the double doors automatically sliding apart as the brothers had approached. Dean having barely cleared the entrance before he had started yelling for help...

Post 8x23, Pre 9x01 – Hospitalized Sam / Worried, Big Brother Dean / Awesome Charlie – Dean glared at the redhead standing in the doorway. "I told you not to come." Charlie shrugged. "You're not the boss of me, Winchester..." she drawled as she snagged a chair from the corner and sat alongside Dean by Sam's bed.

The werewolf hunt was supposed to be an easy peasy silver-bullet-to-the-heart kinda thing for the Winchester brothers, but when the hunt takes a turn in the wrong direction, Sam is the one to pay the price. Set sometime in Season 2. Hurt!Sam, Protective/Big-Brother!Dean.

Pre-Series – Hurt, Cuddly Sam / Awesome, Protective Big Brother Dean – Mary's words about Sam had often echoed in Dean's mind. "When he's scared, he wraps himself in you..."

Season 8 – Sick Sam / Big Brother Dean – Outsider POV – Dean frowned suspiciously at the grocery store cashier before glancing at the plastic bags now loaded with his must-haves these days – the juice and the soup and the meds...and everything else. Which of course had led the cashier to her conclusion about Dean having a sick kid at home...and in a way, she was right.

Missing scene from 8x21 – "The Great Escapist". Dean had answered his phone on the first ring - already on alert even before his sick, feverish little brother's name flashed on the cell phone screen.

Season Two – Hurt Sam / Big Brother Dean / Awesome Bobby – If Sam was unconscious in a ditch out on Old Mill Road that would certainly help explain why the kid was late and why Dean couldn't reach him on his phone for the past half hour.

Post 8x19 – Sick Sam / Big Brother Dean – One day, Sam would give the amulet back to Dean; had already decided to return it before the third trial...just because and just in case. Just because Sam loved his brother, just because he believed in second chances...and just in case he didn't come back.

Post 8x19 "Taxi Driver". While Sam is resting, Dean is nesting - and the older brother decides to do something for his hurting little brother.

Post 8x19 – Sick Sam/Big Brother Dean – For the past two weeks, Dean had restlessly slept on a cot that was right beside Sam's bed, within reaching distance if the kid called out for Dean in the night; the big brother keeping vigil literally 24/7. Because Sam, the most independent Winchester, didn't want to be left alone – not even for a second – and Dean didn't want to leave him.

Obviously something went wrong on this hunt. And obviously Sam took most of the trouble.

Post 8x17 – Hurt Sam / Big Brother Dean – Dean stared at Sam motionless on the bed; his heart hammering in his chest as his mind tallied his brother's symptoms and produced a diagnosis – internal bleeding. The kind of internal bleeding that was worse than just a few bloodied tissues hidden at the bottom of a trashcan.

The trials take their toll on Sam, but Dean is there to help him through the day. Takes place sometime after the events of 8x17 – "Goodbye Stranger." Hurting!Sam, Caring!Big-brother!Dean.

Post 8x16 – Sam coughed again, tasting the bitter tang of copper in his mouth, and then wiped his lips; the gesture too familiar as he had tried to keep this hidden from Dean over the past few weeks. And now the secret was out. But apparently the secret was worse than even Sam had known because the coughing had never been this bad; the blood had never been this much.

Tag to Warriors, set earlier. Sam's still reeling from his diagnosis and right now he just needs a moment to think.
