Author has written 3 stories for Ronin Warriors, and Saiyuki. Who is "Team w03?" Team w03 (pronounced "woe") is the combined writing force of Lyo and Meirelle. They've been "functionally extinct" on FF.net for years. (Meirelle will publish something just when you think she's gone the way of the dinosaur, and it's a known fact that Lyo likes being extinct.) However, strange things happen when two madwomen start plotting together. Team w03 is their collective plot. Who exactly are Lyo and Meirelle? Lyo and Meirelle go to college together. They've been roommates for three years now. Meirelle is majoring in creative writing, and she is minoring in art (and possibly philosophy). Lyo is double-majoring in creative writing and English. Why should I read Team w03's fanfiction? I read some of the shit they wrote individually, and they suck! Theyhaven't published anything significant (fanfiction-wise) since high school. Of course they sucked! There is only one reason why you should read their current fanfiction: Meirelle and Lyo are both English (or English-based) majors. They have awesome grammar, and they use spellcheck. Isn't that a good enough reason? Dude, Rowen and Cye so have accents. Why are there no accents in your fic? Accents and dialects are very hard to write out. They often take away from the fic or make it hard to understand, and that is not our intention. Thus, we have no accents. You insulted the Irish! Lyo is Irish, ethnically. She has family who lives in Ireland, and she visits them whenever she can't get out of it (they are hardcore Catholic; Lyo is not). She is proud of her heritage and is very up on the state of Ireland and the history. When she mocks the Irish, it is a concious choice and mocking out of love. She is a firm believer that one cannot truly love something unless one is willing tomock it mercilessly. Also, quite often a British character is the one who says the disparaging comments, fitting into her bias against the, as she quaintly puts it, mad-genocide-mongers also know as the English. Yell at her for making fun to the English, not the Irish. If you have further issue, Lyo asks that you kindly go suck on some black pudding. Liek, oh em gee! Yohji doesn't say "dude"--he's Japanese! It's Sanzo-ikkou, not Sanzo party/group! It's "gomen nasai," not "I'm very sorry!" They're Japanese, so why do you try to make them American? First of all, we do not try to make them American. Making the characters American would be making Omi listen to Linkin Park instead of X-Japan. (Okay, so I'm sure people listen to Linkin Park in Japan, but this was just an example to get the point across.) We write things the way we do because it's easier to understand from a Western point of view (because most of the readers come from Europe or North America). No, Yohji doesn't say "dude." However, it's an expression that we can use in the English language, and it fits with Yohji's personality. Also, it tends to be confusing if there are too many Japanese words in a fic. "Chan" and "Kun" can't be translated. However, "Ikkou" and "Gomen" can. Not everyone knows Japanese. Now you know why we do it, so we don't want to hear any complaints. Updates: We have just published our third fic, "Jeep Tales." We have a very strange sense of humor. Meirelle is currently working on a RW fic, based in the Sixteen Seconds/Naked Truth storyline and fountains. She is also developing another fic around the Inferno armor. She would finish these fics if she would get off her ass and stop working at her job as well as stopping with the KOTOR. Lyo is has finished two parts into a three part story about the illustrious Gay and Ronin Warriors, more specifically the misconceptions teenage boys can have when they don't communicate with one another. After this, she is not quite certain what she will do, except that she will never play KOTOR. She would actually like to get a job so she may take a break from writing. Lyo and Meirelle are out of town until 6-20. 06.10.05 (by Lyo) |
