AU-Gail has decided to enlist with the Ontario Provincial Police and is stationed in Timmins, Ontario, much to the chagrin of her mother, who withdraws financial support. Gail decides to go anyway and meets Holly, a doctor who took the rural posting to help pay off medical school debt.

Gail is a lonely teenager in a new town and a new school who is sure she doesn't know the first thing about friendship.
