1941 - Superintendent Hugh Reid thought his world had already been turned on it's head with the declaration of war but an unexpected turn of events brings an new chapter for his family and by extension Foyle and Andrew. May 24, 1941 - Britain is reeling from the news that the HMS Hood has been sunk, a glimpse at how the Foyles might have responded.

1941 - Sometimes shadows catch you unawares but if you're lucky you won't have to face them alone. A typical morning at the station takes an unexpected detour for Foyle, Milner and Sam.

Christmas 1941 - With the war continuing to drag on and Andrew unable to get leave there seems to be little for Christopher Foyle to be merry about but sometimes joy is all the sweeter for the lack anticipation.

If Foyle had been home instead of at the river when Andrew returned from Malta what would that homecoming have looked like? Possibly something like this.

May 1945 - Actions speak louder than words. Andrew acts on instinct and he and Foyle discuss the lingering effects and consequences of the war.

1940 - Before Flight Lieutenant Foyle leaves to join his squadron there are a few people he needs to see and some conversations he needs to have. Slight canon divergence; includes the Reid family mentioned in some of my other stories.

It's Christmas Eve 1940 and a weary young RAF officer is wondering aimlessly through the cold dark streets he's not really sure what he's looking for but somehow it finds him anyway.

1921 - Foyle Flashback - DS Christopher Foyle had had a very long two days what he desperately wanted was to kiss his wife, make his son giggle, sit in his armchair and have a cup of tea but sometimes we don't always get what we want.

May 1945 - Andrew had been planning on being back in Hastings in time for tea, maybe walking to the station once he got off the train to surprise his father but an unexpected situation leaves him in need of a lifeline, one that has been there all his life.

Parallels can be found in unexpected places. DS Milner resolves a situation in a straight forward but unexpected way.

Foyle Flashback: Christmas Day 1923 - Christopher Foyle and his young son solve a Christmas conundrum early on Christmas morning

Some times even a stiff upper lip is not enough to get you through a tough day. Foyle lends a hand when Reid finds himself in a difficult situation. Sort of a companion piece to 'Revelations by the the River'

Foyle Flashback - 1938: When things don't go according to plan Christopher Foyle finds himself once again confronting the realities of what it means to be a policeman and a father. Set when Andrew is first off at Oxford.

Everyone knows that what goes up must come down, yet Christopher Foyle still wasn't expecting it when it happened. Wasn't prepared for the way one telephone call would threaten to change everything. Set during Andrew's posting in Debden.

In times of war all things are uncertain, especially for the front line troops. It was a common practice for soldiers to write letters to family members and friends to be posted in the event that they died. If Andrew did the same what he would have written to his father?

When Superintendent Hugh Reid agreed to go fishing with his good friend and longtime colleague DCS Christopher Foyle he had been hoping for a trout or two for supper, not the answer to a long standing mystery.

It is October 1940, the Battle of Britain is raging on and one weary, young RAF pilot has been granted a 48-hour pass.

Foyle Flashback - March 1919 - Police Constable Christopher Foyle hurried up his front steps, quickly opening the door and letting himself in, completely unaware of the news that awaited him.

Foyle Flashback. 1920 Andrew manages to turn an ordinary afternoon into a memorable one for his parents.

Christopher Foyle smiled as he walked along, letting Andrew's excited chatter wash over him, it was a beautiful Saturday afternoon, perfect for taking his young son to his first professional football match.

Foyle stared at the telegram in his shaking hand and closed his eyes, praying for a miracle. A miracle that would bring his son back to him and erase the horrible words, "missing in action."

What would happen if Milner's bad leg gave him trouble one afternoon at work? Maybe something like this.

What if Andrew had gone home instead of going to Sam's when he went AWOL in Enemy Fire.
