Awakening brings remembering, and after a night's sleep, Izuku is overwhelmed by the fact that All Might could die and leave him... leave them all. It's not fair, not what the man deserves and not what Izuku would ever want. So in his determination, Izuku makes a vow to himself, his teacher, and the world.
