He returned her kiss; all hungry mouth and clumsy hands, and inside, the old Éponine is smirking because Enjolras isn't quite so poised and elegant as he drags her closer.

Enjolras just wanted to keep Eponine of the streets, that was all he wanted, but not all that he got. ExE oneshot now extended to a threeshot set in the lead up to the revolution.

Adyna has known nothing but abuse since she was fifteen. She meets Grantaire, who in her eyes, is a man above men. However due to her being mute, communication is difficult between them. "They were a strange couple, the boy and girl who moved in next door." Enjolras and Éponine make it through the revolution, and now they have to live with the consequences and each other. She wonders how he survived the war, while he wonders how to survive her cooking. He's angry because his destiny's been changed, and she's angry because he doesn't know how to be anymore.

Gavroche decides to find the perfect guy for Eponine after the Marius incident. According to conversations he was not meant to hear, the right man has to be perfect for Eponine but also right for the family she has made with her siblings. Gavroche looks to her friends to pick the right guy...if only Enjolras would stop annoying him about homework.

"'We shall hold fast for as long as there is breath. We shall endure for as long as there is hope,' he promises in a voice fairer than gold and brighter than glory. 'Damn,' she sighs, 'there goes my weekend.'" The revolution lasts longer than expected, and Enjolras and Éponine go a little stir-crazy at the barricade.

Eponine is hopelessly in love with Marius, but Enjolras begins to see in her something that Marius never did, beneath the rags and suffering. His stone heart softens for her, because she is what his revolution is all about.

As she hurries off, she throws a flippant smile and goodbye over her shoulder. "Eponine, if you will. It seems we are destined, Monsieur, to collide."

"He lets her go and she scurries away, and in his mind Grantaire's sneering because of course Enjolras wouldn't know how to hold on to a woman, even the slips and tatters of one." Enjolras and Éponine find each other in little cracks of time before the revolution, and then once more at the barricade.

The night before the barricades arise, Enjolras stumbles upon an unavoidable distraction. He knows nothing good will come of it, but he cannot help but be drawn into the night. Eponine/Enjolras.
