I really enjoy reading Harry Potter fanfiction stories. My favorite are the "what if" stories that examine possible alternatives by changing one small detail. These details can be from any time at Hogwarts or possible before. I also do enjoy time- travel stories that are done well. I find these very similar to the "what if" stories just with more knowledge.

As for the pairings of the characters, I am not a big fan of Harry/Ginny. I felt they were too forced in the books. My favorite is Harry/Hermione but do not mind other pairings if they are done well. I have read some good Harry/Daphne stories, and I think they give Harry a good background or base for the wizarding world. Some of the pairings don't work well in stories since the characters have to change too much from original for them to work in the story. As for Harry/multi or Harry/harem stories, I have found only a few that have been good and not seemed too over the top or ridiculous.

As for Dumbledore, I do like the stories that show that he is not perfect and makes mistakes. I don't even mind the occasional bashing of him, since if you read the books closely, some of them are likely interpretations.
