Merely a collection of favorites to never be forgotten. The world of Ranma 1/2 may be a peculiar focus of interests, but is it so odd to enjoy a series that puts our frustrations from chaos and unluckiness to shame? It's a great laugh to watch the plots created by 9,000 people venting frustrations and wicked minds through very creative writing. The appeal has less to do with personal experiences of various basics of martial arts and more with the mentality the heroes use to succeed.

On to the fun. We all hate plots half-made, so I just want to note for myself (And for any others if they actually find this bloody list) some of the best ones I found. Criteria are simple: reasonable personality to canon, and stories long enough to garner respect.

Strangers in a Strange Land » by Pat Olsen. Future fic. There is one character from the Ranma universe who would have had the influence and wealth to access and save the Nerimans' memories for all time, and this is an interesting idea of what results. Ranma/Sabre Marrionette J. On the other hand, now that I've Googled what the second series is, I will be having nightmares about the images.

Destiny's Child » by Fire. Motherload, one of my first favorites. As odd as it may seem reading a story about an immortal based off a series that spanned one year of the character's life, this story truly WORKS. Crossovers, unless you know the references, are glossed over because of how well they are weaved in. Ranma/SM/Lina Inverse.

Sailor Ranko saga by Fire, then by burgerbecky (Sequels not listed here). Massive, ongoing, and currently has become a webcomic ( in addition to text FF. Has dark equally with cheesy.

Vengeance And A Half » by Fire. Dark. This is Nerima Wrecking Crew vs. Senshi for revenge.

Insertion » by ContraBardus. Insertion fic gone wrong leaves Ranma as the only true schizophrenic in the world... besides Hotaru that is. That's right, it's a multiverse-referencing, comic-leeching ball of action and chaos that never stops during its amazing 90 chapter story! Mature subjects. Ranma/SM/OMG!/Men in Black/Tenchi/Star Wars...

Rain » by ContraBardus. Ranma has always been a hero and a character who's been popular with ladies. Perhaps he was the same way in a previous life? You can see if this is true as we follow Ranma regain his memories and return as the God of Rain. Ranma/OMG!

Gaijin » by ContraBardus. Another mad insertion fic, this time Sailor Moon/Marvel Universe and others. The plot follows a small boy nicknamed Carrot who is tossed into a world of manga/comics, with fate following him even as he hides homeless in Japan. Incomplete.

Guardian, SM Spinoff Millennium » by Black Dragon6. 100% Ranma and what-if comedy if he got caught up with a psychotic, weaponry-loaded "police" force with as much chaos as his old life.

A Not so Simple Wish » by Ebiris. Due to a cursed wish of her own fault, Ranko/Ranma-chan is removed and forced to live her own life until she can find herself loved and accepted by original Ranma. She's brought into the story before pure-Ranma's arrival, and chaos follows. Very sweet, sadly discontinued.

Chaotic Future » by Cloud-Dreamer. Ranma/SM/OMG!. Now does Ranma get caught up with Goddesses or does a Goddess get caught up with Ranma? Hard to say.

The Earth Princess » by Cloud-Dreamer. By now you should be able to tell the summary from the title. Good job! Story may appear rushed at the start, but with a little OOC it starts getting interesting. Dead sadly.

For Better or For Worst Case Scenario » by Golden Arms. Ranma and Nabiki both can't quit and can't lose. So, yeah, oops? Fun story.

Happily Married » by Kirinin. Another SM-free Ranma. Impresses me with Kirinin's artistic coping with what (she?) calls time causality and making a heart-wrenching tale that's told across two timelines: one during the common Ranma time, and one after he wakes up married. Romance.

A trip to self » by Trugeta. Takes an overdependence of malleting to its inevitable conclusion: Ranma/Kasumi with weirdness. Crossover Tenchi Muyo.

So Be It, The Mark in the Lace, The Last Day » by Materia-Blade. Story only died in third story of saga, but the rest is extensive (239,000 words) so please read it. Serious unexpected crossover with the equally epic Wheel of Time, but keep reading and the plot will work out very smoothly. One of the senshi is mentally evil. Sad plot at times.

Queen Rat » by Sarge4. One of the best 100% Ranma fics ever. 480k words of maturation, action, lemon, and gender fun. Oh, and heroic Oyabun Nabiki. Has large amounts of responding to dark subjects as well as LGBT romance.

Ah! My Ranma One Half! » by Ozzallos. Very sweet merger between Ranma 1/2 and Oh My Goddess! due to an especially chaotic part of Ranma's history.

The Best of Times » by Ozzallos. If you like R/SM, read anything by this guy. Some are left unfinished unlike this one, but they are all well written. Ranma vs. Setsuna, which seems to be a popular theme in fics.

Chaos Factor » by Nemo Blank. Hard to describe. Fiancées try to show their best sides and Ranma is completely oblivious. R/SM.

Chaotic Rebirth » by Trugeta. Dark, made having Ranma birth a child a puzzling conundrum and necessary sacrifice. That may sound insulting to childbirth but I'm trying not to give spoilers here. R/SM.

Heir to the Empire » by Ozzallos. Ranma & Usagi trouble, not what you think. At some points gets really odd, so try not to imagine wrinkly old village elders dressed in black leather.

Fission » by HomerNet. Due to a curse/magic screwup, Ranma and SM herself have somewhat of a swap. Double the Senshi, double the girls, double the WTF.

Character reconstruction » by weebee. As described. Crossover characters only explain the science of the transfer, leaving weirdness to the professionals.

Process of Elimination » by Durandall. A multiplanar, genetically engineered monster is wrecking havoc on the Earth and is so adaptively deadly that a people that long ignored humans is having to take on refugees. Various heroes gather to fight the creatures. Ranma, Tenchi Muyo, Sailor Moon, Love Hina, Nuku Nuku.

Same Time Next Year » by MZephyr. Sweet short romance story as described. 100% Ranma.

Strained Harmony by Sunshine. Ranma has had enough and gets out of town fic, in a really well made story. This tale WILL GIVE YOU FOOD CRAVINGS, you are forewarned. Ranma/SM.

The Anarchists » by Materia-Blade. Will it stay on this list? I think it's being updated. Two rivals, sent into the future, female.

Nemesis One Half: Banishment, Nemesis One Half » by Sub-Zero879. He wrote these at WHAT age? Deep, dark R/SM. Demons in this tale are honest-to-God demons from nightmares, not mere women faux-aliens with an obsession for hearts. And then, how do you succeed against an enemy when messages from the future detail your inevitable death? May still be updated.

Hell is a Martial Artist » by Ozzallos. Ranma/OMG/little SM. Ranma obliviously gets in with the high queen poo-bah of Hell, who decides to make it her job to refine Ranma. Possibly dead fic, but you should recognize the author and have faith that fun and the opposite of what you thought about the hero/villain cast from the original universes will result.

The Dark Lords of Nerima, The Dark Lords Strike Back, The Dark Lords Ascendant» by claymade. Ranma vs. Senshi with alternating comedy and epic battles.

Fist of the Moon » by Penguin-sa. Curse acceptance, all around friendship with the Senshi. There is a slowly updating webcomic based off of this (

Gin and Kin » by Materia-Blade. All I can describe this as is a "Therapy" fic... for both Ranma and Senshi. Dead, but interestingly complex.

Ryouga vs the Road Runner (Short story, Prequel), Magical Girl Ranko vs Z Fighter Ryouga(Main story) » by Rowan Seven. The rival duo are each trained by the legendary martial arts schools of ACME, Dragonball Z, and some silver-haired Sailor Moon ripoff to end the competition of best fighter once and for all. It's a breathtaking crater-full of brilliant comedy... and then things get weird. Ranma 1/2, DBZ, SM, Looney Tunes, El-Hazard, etc. Complete.

God Seed » by HitmanPAC. Somewhat isolated fic in that it starts an idea then returns the players to a world with external characters unawares. 100% Ranma, characters come across an internal power greater than they'd imagined.

Butterflies and Wild Horses » by Smylingsnake. What else would happen if a lover of martial arts and strategy who wants to run a dojo learns how to use magic?

Spoiled Brats » by DarkFyre99. Hard to describe. Ranma lives a busy life and uses Jusenkyo to solve it. Ranma/SM because curses, trying to live as a celebrity, and vampires alone aren't enough to make his life "busy."

One Half a Wing and a Prayer Clean version, OneHalf a Wing and a Prayer: Fly me to the Moon » by Tirsis. Not a girl curse, but a Succubus curse. Second story is R/SM.

I find this a good model for the cartoon had it been made with a greater budget and a theory that no matter how hard you try, people in Nerima don't die when you kill them. Comedic, sexual.

Causality » by Ozzallos. Will it be continued if only to free me of the confusion haunting my mind? Author seems to want to keep it going. Ranma-Setsuna with a weird relationship.

In Dreams (Prequel/One Shot), In Dreams Becoming Ranma (Main Story) » by Sarge4. Once upon a Happosai time, magic and ki is lost from the world and the Ranma story becomes boring... until a disaster with the Nanban mirror links the maturer Nerimans to other magic-filled universes.

Genma's Daughter, Equal Halves, and Notes from Juilliard by ClassicalGal. Now 11 years after the original award-winning fanfic was written and shared online independently, Ms. Goldsmith has brought three pieces of art to FanFiction.net. What starts the tale is simple: Ranma is not the man he thought he is, and has to cope with the conflict between his upbringing and a not-as-masculine set of memories. The volumes that follow then take the best and most innocent parts from the original series, add sweet plot, romance, exceptional details, and artful talent to share something truly inspiring. The two sequels then look into what would happen if this spinoff Ranma met the original universe, and what becomes of Ranma post-grad. Worth reading.

Chained World 01: The Fall of the House of Kuno, Chained World 02: Saving Grace » by Narsil. In an AU where slavery is accepted, Kuno calls in the great debt owed by the Tendo family and the redhaired girl sells her body to clear their name. Sex, lots of violence, but not as dark as you'd expect; it's mature more than nightmarish, thankfully. Ranma/some SM.

Harry Potter: Dark Memories » by Blueowl. Parts of Voldemort's memories and power leaked into Harry through the curse mark, and Harry doesn't take his return lying down. Big magic, secret societies, and common sense.

L'Heritier de le Fay by n1ght3lf. Four years after the books and Malfoy's curse turned Harry into a female. She's gained a lot of power since and has decided to return and fix what was left in the aftermath of the books. Short.

The Pureblood Pretense, The Serpentine Subterfuge, The Ambiguous Artifice by murkybluematter. It's a universe where purebloods rule and have blocked all mudbloods and halfbloods from Hogwarts, so halfblood Harry Potter and pureblood Rigel Black (Son of Sirius) impersonate each other so Harry can study under Snape. Excellent background and depth.

Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality » by Less Wrong. The mind-enlightening, really-really-really brilliant story of Harry had his foster mother instead married an academic - an Oxford professor specifically. See as Harry brings the scientific studies, comprehension of logical fallacies (Focus on author's Decision Theory interpretation), and post-calculus education to the land of magical Britain, where wizards bury dangerous spells and artifacts instead of emending and learning from them. Following the Phoenix by hezzel. An almost better divergence/conclusion to HPMOR above, and it finished before HPMOR did.

To Shape and Change » by Blueowl. A Snape scarred by war goes back in time to personally supervise and improve the situation. Both sides are smarter (Don't worry, no easy wins for Harry from preemptive strikes on horcruxes) and Harry goes on a completely unique tangent to canon. Complete.

Return of the Warrior » by Q6. Amazing analogy between Ranma and Kenshin. If you were/are a fan of the first two seasons of Ruroni Kenshin, you will enjoy it.

Any story by ack1308. He balances a dozen AU's and self-inserts, including his best Security! and Recoil.

Falling Iron by Arthur Hansen. Iron Man meets Parahumans after the plot of the Avengers film, and the Wormverse learns the only power a genius needs is coffeespeak. Short.

Bug on a Wire by jacobk. Two absolute rivals out of costume meet on a gig and discover a perfect chance for teamwork. Two undercover superheroes, from each other. Short/dead.

A Tale of Transmigration by CrashLegacy. Some of those who died around the canon final battle are reincarnated in a close dimension with memories. New chance at life, new training and combat techniques, and anyone who can't handle the high learning curve won't last.

Copacetic by Materia-Blade. Massive sequel to canon - a recovering Taylor graduates into college on a parallel world and tries to grasp an average (See: dull) life. Something about that she's doing wrong. Up-to-date fic in full in Copacetic (Worm Thread 4).
